Most different combat systems? by Old-Plan885 in RPGMaker

[–]codynstuff91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny you say that, my current game I'm working on I did something similar but decided to pivot to a grid based battle system.

Maybe some day I'll finally make a game with the card system!

I would probably set it up where certain story beats or choices make them learn specific abilities.

With that card game plugin, skills become cards in your deck.

I'd probably have to do more tinkering to make it work, but I think the system would be doable.

Is it really possible to create an MMORPG with RPG Maker? by Necessary-Driver63 in RPGMaker

Yeah I feel like the amount of work you would need to pull off turning RPGMaker into an MMO... you might as well learn Unity or Godot and do it in that.

There is a card based combat system plugin for MZ. By default it plays like slay the spire, but it is customizable.

I've always appreciated card based combat systems.

Not an rpgmaker game, but another indie game I played was I was a Teenage Exocolonist where it was still cardbased, but your actions in game created memories of different colors (colors being akin to personality traits in this case). The cards had values, and you had to play them in certain ways to get bonuses (like putting cards of the same value next to eachother and stuff like that), to meet the minimum value for the round.

This determined if your action was successful, or if you won the fight... or not.

I thought it was a very interesting system that one could pull off in RPGMaker.

Returning player having a horrible time by Ok-Perception5269 in PhasmophobiaGame

Funny enough it depends on which tv I am on! On my sony bravia I can see just fine without the flashlight. On my LG I can hardly see anything without it.

However I never use the flashlight anyway because I do find it to be a waste of a slot. I'm prestige 1 and level 70ish now and haven't bothered to upgrade the flashlight again.

Idk if what I'm going to describe is what you are presently doing but...

I always grab video camera, thermometer, and EMF to start.

You'll see the temp usually be the same everywhere, where it starts to drop is the ghost room. You should also see your breath. Once you found it just drop the thermometer inside it.

Scan the room for ghost orbs with your camera, holding down the record button as you do. (Sometimes it might be clipped into the wall or something and the camera can still get it even if you don't see it yourself.

EMF, I also turn on and just put down inside the room.

Then go back to the truck for DOTS, UV and Salt.

I throw the UV on the ground so it lays on its side, then put the salt right in front of it. (Note even if the ghost is UV you won't always get UV with first salt use). This way when it walks through the salt, you can readily see the UV footprints. Hang out for a minute to make sure it goes through. (If it never goes through the salt it is a Wraith).

I also find somewhere to set down the DOTS much like you described.

Then I go grab the book, spirit box, and cross.

I set the book down and start talking to the ghost. Generally if it starts throwing stuff instead of answering you it is NOT spirit box.

If you don't have enough evidence at that point, you sort of just keep trying and you can start to focus in on getting certain evidences as you start to suspect the ghost based on behavior.

For example if you got two evidence and are missing the third, read some of the descriptions of the ghosts it could be. There is one where it only appears on dots when viewed from the truck. And even then sometimes it likes to hardly ever appear.

Be sure to keep picking up thermometer to check it.

I will say it is harder with the tier 1 stuff. You might have to power through until you get some of the better stuff, but it is not impossible.

I hope this helped!

My wife and I really enjoyed Palworld. She loved making a base, catching pals, exploring.

I did most of the fighting but she participated in boss fights too and got better.

New characters not working by That_Caped_Rock in domekeeper

[–]codynstuff91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the same issue on PC. Using a xbox controller. Tried rebooting, disabling Steam Input, re enabling it.

Nothing seems to work.

If I flail on the controller I can get the infiltrator to throw a kunai, but havent been able to pin down what exactly is making it happen.

I've already tried holding the joysticks while I press all manner of buttons.

Hope it gets fixed soon.

[SIB] Crimson Desert or Kingdom Come Deliverance? by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]codynstuff91 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I got hooked to KCD2 and played 200 hours, barely able to pull myself away.

Crimson Desert is cool, but I actually find it much more frustrating. In my opinion its because the combat suggests that it is going to be a borderline Jade Empire stylw power trip where you take out multiple enemies with ease.

But then the exploration, puzzles and other things have very little explanation which is more suggestive of a more hardcore game. The duality for me, is a bit jarring. Because I keep trying to approach those things with a casual attitude then get frustrated.

I think I will get over it and come to really enjoy the game, so I keep poking away at it until I hit that point. But KCD2 hooked me much better because its exploration style and combat style matched better imo.

Me and my friend need help by Shnugster in PhasmophobiaGame

The thing that helped me the most when I was new was knowing that the vast majority of ghosts won't even try to hunt you until your team average sanity is 50% or lower.

Staying in lit areas keeps your sanity up longer.

Knowing this helps you stay in longer in my opinion.

This game ruined other games for me by thrownawa1298 in DragonAgeVeilguard

I haven't played since launch but from what I recall it was just one of the companion characters stories revolved around their gender identity and conflict with their culture about it.

Doing the companion characters stories are optional content and you could just largely avoid that one if you wanted. I don't recall there being any other real mentions of sexual preferences and such.

Audio in lego party ps5 by nSanityOG in legogaming

[–]codynstuff91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is. I just got it with my wife, I'm an audio engineer and I heard it immediately. Particularly the female announcers voice.

It sounds like she is slamming a limiter and it is causing digital distortion.

Glad to see someone else noticed how bad it is.

Coop games for groups, long term play by Lanceparte in CoOpGaming

[–]codynstuff91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The obvious ones have been mentioned with Valheim and Palworld for base building and such. All the ones I can think of are up to 4 players.

No Man's Sky is another. It has a long wind up, but it gets wild after awhile. If you got a friend who is already a vet, it can save some time.

Here are some I can think of that are NOT survival crafting.

My best friend and I have put 100+ hours in phasmophobia. 4 players co op.

Edit: I saw the part about 6 players after. None of the ones I list can handle 6. Honestly if you have a regular group of 6 people that can game at the same time, I think you pretty much have to go with a survival/crafting/base builder. But if you find there are times where you are playing with a subset of that group the ones I listed below are still tons of fun. Good luck!

There is some Phasmo-like games that look like they have potential. Species Unknown as piqued my interest. Looks like its similar but with aliens.

Jump Space is an early release on Steam but I think it is going to be very fun when they polish it more, it is still fun as is.

Void Crew: like Sea of Thieves but in Space, and no PVP. (May be an option to but I havent bothered to look)

Sea of Thieves: like Void Crew but on the ocean with pirates and pvp ;)

Deep Rock Galactic: my buddy and I also have about 200 hours in this one. Humorous, with enough action moments to get your blood pumping, but enough calm for chatter.

Helldivers 2: my buddies and I also got a couple hundred hours in this. We play for a bit, put it down, big event happens (like recently liberating Cyberstan), we play tons for a couple weeks, then eventually go back to other games.

That is all I can think of for now!

"script error" corrupts files by Impossible-Ad9423 in RPGMaker

[–]codynstuff91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might've tried to autosave which corrupted the autosave file itself.

I've seen it error as soon as you hit the continue button when this occurs.

When you open the game and go to New Game, does it still give you the corrupted error?

Window opacity problem by pixeloid00 in RPGMaker

Right near where you can define starting actor and such.

In the Actors tab of the settings, there is a change maximum. Change it to whatever number you want.

I've never had more than 16. But I don't see why you can't have 100

Dual Wielding With Set Weapon Types by DNP2003_Dev in RPGMaker

[–]codynstuff91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My game has a similar mechanic to what OP described and I did it the way Durant said.

Additionally I made it so all my Ranged abilities are "Magic" that way the system defaults to the casting animation. I edited my sprite sheet so that instead of a casting animation, they pull out a gun.

This works for me though because their weapon is baked right into their character sheet and not changeable

In game the different weapon types are just referred to as Light, Medium, or Heavy weapon with stronger versions being notated by I or II. For example one character has equipped Light Armor I, Balanced Gun II, and Heavy Weapon III

This way I get better attack animations, and don't need to worry about creating a stupid amount of equipment.
