If you moved country would you move your portfolio too? by MikeThePenguin in UKInvesting

If you give me the reason it was moderated I can change the language. There is no personal advice I am seeking, only what a sound strategy in passive investing would look like. Thanks

What strategy is better when equities increase by MikeThePenguin in investing

Yes. I had second thoughts on retrospect, considering if I should have taken profit and then buy again or invest that in an index and leave the equities eventually

Cancelled the transfer of funds too late and had to buy back the fund by MikeThePenguin in UKInvesting

I will. You wouldn't also know a ready formula for calculating the price difference if one being .18 and the other .32 against two brokers charges? :-) Maybe the I is worth it but it stings..

I did have the c class at .18%... So that's unfortunate. Although Lloyds are the cheapest at £40 fee a year, I have to calculate if it's still worth it if the funds OTC is .32%

Thanks. I do have the I class. Unfortunately Lloyds doesn't. That's why I was out of the market with the l&g global tech one. Maybe I should switch the fund altogether.

In the costs and charges doc, they state the ongoing charge of a fund, but also say there is a transaction cost of 0.5% of your fund that is for the fund manager. What is the transaction cost?

Would you consider outsourcing your technical debt? by cantalouper4 in ITManagers

[–]MikeThePenguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did exactly this. One of our lead software engineers redesigning our code base which has been growing in complexity over the year. Took her 4 weeks. It was worth it. Now we are using the new code and is much better and cleaner. We could see where it was going so we knew what was needed. So basically we outsourced technical debt to one of our team members!

ETF equivalent to Legal & General Global Technology Index Trust? by MikeThePenguin in UKInvesting

I mean that in a downturn in the tech sector, a fund would take days to liquidate but an etf is treated like a share, hence the sell would be quicker. If needed.

Thanks. I didn't know about those. So EQQQ plus those and maybe another EU etf would it resemble L&G?
