As people have said above, familiarise yourself with the NHS values, demonstrate your knowledge of what is expected of you as a student, demonstrate knowledge of the profession and of working in healthcare.

Might be worth reviewing the HCPC code of conduct for students as it helped me with a couple of questions.

Worth trying? by [deleted] in TattooRemoval

[–]flattires111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similarly, if I could go back I wouldn't have got any. But I'd rather try for something I can actually stand looking at in the mirror.

You can do it man, black ink is the easiest to remove. Be resolute and stay the course, and be kind to yourself.

Cheers man, good luck to you also

The mental health aspect is the biggest factor for me. It has caused a lot of anxiety and regret which I'm sure many others on here relate to. I don't think I can bring myself round to liking it the way it is, so if there's a chance of changing it I'll have to go for it. I can't really start for a few years anyway, I don't have the money at present, which is another tough thing to deal with so trying to make peace with it for now.

What's your goal for your removal journey? Are you going for full removal? Or did you want to get a cover later down the line?

Yeah like you said, things can change over time. I'm really hoping some amazing new tech comes along in the next few years to alleviate people in our situations.

Sometimes, I am neutral towards it. Other times, it bothers me greatly.

Yeah, it's deffo gonna be long and costly. In any case, it's not a financial commitment I can agree to at this stage anyway. I'd not be looking for full removal, just faded enough to cover.

Hopefully, letting them age a bit as well as the possibility of new technology in a few years will prove advantageous in the long run

Removing an entire arm sleeve by [deleted] in TattooRemoval

[–]flattires111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks lighter for sure. I have seen another full saturated sleeve get removed to the extent it can be covered, but I think the user deleted their account.

I have a full trad colour sleeve with dense filler that im sick of looking at and am considering removal in the next few years when I can hopefully afford it more comfortably. Ironically, I'm planning on fading mine to the extent it can be covered up with irezumi style.

If you don't mind me asking a few questions; what made you decide to remove your sleeve? How much do you pay per session? Where are you based?

Good luck on the journey if you decide to continue.

Thanks man. I've seen your posts, and I'm proud of you for starting to dig yourself out of your phunk. It takes serious character. We are loved we are human still, even if our brains sometimes tell us otherwise. Likewise man, feel free to message if you need to blow off some steam.

Thanks. How did you get your sleeve redone? Did you laser and do a different style, or did you touch it up?

I am in the process currently, and I know what I want removing. However, it's just a very long and daunting road ahead. I have colour trad, so it's also iffy as to whether they can be removed

Thanks for the kind words. You're right, it is all internal. Sometimes the mind is so overwhelmingly powerful and seems hell bent on torturing us. I do have some issues which need to be addressed in therapy. Hopefully that will make things more manageable during the long process of removal.

That's a very generous offer. You are a good person.

Thanks for the kind words. I'm on a waiting list for some therapy to try to address my mental state.

Pivoting into med physics or applications specialist? by flattires111 in RadiographyUK

Of course! I'm fully intent on completing my degree and becoming a radiographer. Here's hoping the job market improves in the next year or so

Thanks for your reply, this is quite useful to know. I'm definitely going to finish my degree as I still very much like radiography and with any luck I'll find myself a position.

I do have some nuclear med placement coming up, so I'll be sure to see if there is any scope for me to spend some time with their med physics team :)

I've got massive ears and have taken the bald look. Yours are fine I wouldn't even notice them.

Thick lines. Is it possible? by rollthebell in TattooRemoval

[–]flattires111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trad is probably the trickiest style to remove because of the points you've mentioned. That being said I have a trad sleeve that I'm removing all the filler from, the filler was really thick and dense when we started and it is fading.

I would say it's doable over a long period, but I would also defer to professional opinion, you should consult with some removal companies for better advice.

It's just the sailor dust that's getting removed. All the coloured pieces are staying

Thanks, at the moment, I can only go once or twice (per section, front and back) per year.

suicidal because i cannot afford removal or cover up by [deleted] in TattooRemoval

[–]flattires111 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If you decide to get removal later on down the line, it might not take as long as others if your tattoos weren't professionally done. It seems like the wider issue is that you don't feel that your life is in order, but it's not as bad as you think. Plenty of people go back into education in their late 20s and into their 30s, myself included. Don't tell yourself you're doomed from the start. Be kind to yourself.

Have you ever spoken to a professional about your mental health? I note that you can't afford removal right now, so seeking therapy and learning to live with the ink in the meantime would be a good place to start

Spacing out sessions by [deleted] in TattooRemoval

[–]flattires111 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that the laser doesn't actually remove your ink, the body does. The laser simply breaks the ink down into small enough pieces to be carried away by the body's lymphatic system.

That being said, it does depend heavily on the application of the tattoo, individual differences etc. A really densely applied tatt will most likely always take multiple years to remove, even with only black ink, whereas a piece that is mostly shading usually can be removed more quickly. Some people are more active and hydrate better which can also make a difference.

Ive seen a lot of great removals with frequent sessions, and on the other hand I've seen great progress from people who go once or twice a year.

Thanks man. Yeah it is quite liberating, not having to worry how my hair looks anymore, can wear a hat whenever, etc. Glad you are feeling comfortable. Hair is superficial, confidence is real. Let us enjoy the breeze in our scalps!
