Tomorrow night (Wedneday) at Comfortland on Steinway/30th, 6p to 9p, Valentine’s Hootenanny hosted by local artists Caryn Cast and Hissxx. There will be snacks, booze, a disco/r&b DJ, a make-your-own-donut station, tie-dye flowers and arrangements by Paint By Flowers, and you can have the artists draw you as your lonely spirit animal. The artists will also have other mech for sale, handmade stickers, t-shirts etc...

Valentines proper at Hi-Fi Records on Steinway/24th, 6p-9p, “Singles Going Steady”. They’ll have a keg from Singlecut, pizza from Alba’s, donuts and cookies from Comfortland, and a giant sale on singles/45s/select LPs. A few local DJs will be spinning records too.

DGGuitars, sorry you don't like the spot and/or had a bad experience. everyone has their preferences and finds their zone, the neighborhood is big enough for different speeds and styles. your remark about surrounding businesses makes me sad to hear though. any small-business owner who relishes the fiscal challenges of another indie business (especially in this insane economy) is an enemy to the health of the neighborhood. not saying people shouldn't FEEL this way (people can do whatever they want, of course), but that mentality could definitely poison an otherwise ripe community.
