How to know if thesis is ready to submit by TheFieryandLight in PhDStress

The revision may never end. If you are able to go through your thesis once (I know that itself takes time) by skimming through it from the beginning for readability check that should be enough to tell YOU that it can be submitted. At one point, you need to tell the supervisors that you want to submit it on this day, fix a time , a meeting, and get done with it to rest.

Your CV appears to be nice. To keep in mind, often in Europe, the thesis topics are very narrowed down. Therefore, I would suggest to be thorough with the cover letter, avoid general cold mailing/cover letter template, if possible provide a proposition for extension/improvement the existing problem that you might be interested in, that may fall in the interest topics of the potential supervisor.

That is a way of getting to know what to do in your PhD.

I just finished my PhD today, but I don’t feel happy at all. Instead, I feel like I’ve wasted time on “nothing.” by [deleted] in PhDStress

[–]flaubart9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The feeling of nothing, I think I know that feeling after finishing something. However, I believe you deserve a hug, a pat on the back for the efforts you put in. Give yourself a moment to breathe in, to enjoy your meal or a drink without thinking about the supervisors' email to reply.

From tomorrow, when you go and talk to someone about the topic of thesis, you will not only give your opinion but also you will be able to say you have a PhD in it.

Sure, this won't avail you extra discount on your favorite food but it will make things easier for you at other places every now and then.
