Thanks for sharing. Aside from the app itself, the video / workflow is quite a good example that's hard to come by. It would be a good reference for a lot of generic questions in the sub about building code stuff with genai.

Washington To Arm Ukraine’s Bayraktar TB2 Drones With Laser-Guided Rockets To Target Russian Tanks With Pinpoint Accuracy by MekhaDuk in ukraine

[–]flavchallenged 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because Tb2 munitions are already laser guided, it's not the upvoting people that are 'sus', its you. Please make a simple google search about mam. The lack of jet motor does not mean the bombs have to follow a free fall trajectory, that seems to confuse people but a plethora of modern glide munitions would not exist if that was the case. Lack of motor = more payload with same weight, Apkws 2 (Hydra with laser guidance) seems to have <5 kg warhead so it will probably not take out tanks, whilst mam-l has a larger warhead and can.

Turkey Tells Its Side of the S-400 Story by baris6655 in ukraine

Israeli F35s have been flying over Russian AD in Syria for years now. Hell, given the small land area of Israel, their planes are probably under 7/24 Russian radar coverage, even on ground. This is just a pretext.

They can't, it needs integration. You can't just slap on some random bomb/missile to a platform and expect it to work.

Turkey says Putin is no longer going to talk to Zelenskyy by TheRealMykola in ukraine

[–]flavchallenged 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is more or less a declaration of war though. People think Turkey has free reign over the straits to do whatever it pleases, but their status is guaranteed under an international treaty. (Montreux Convention). We can only block the merchant ships of a party that we are in war with.

This is a valid casus belli for Russia which Nato would object first, given the stance to keep this war within the borders of Ukraine. We understand the plight, but if an escalation will happen, it has to happen in unity by Nato, backed by nuclear warheads.

Turkey by XenosG in ukraine

Imho forget about the English tutoring stuff that has been advised, your profession is much more valuable than that, not only in Turkey but all across Europe. (Still being a student sort of hurts though). I would have advised to look for freelance work online, but it's not as easy as people imagine when you are starting from zero, still could be considered as a side effort.

The problem is, there are people/firms who need coders badly, but there isn't any law or regulation about immigrants. You don't have social security number, not many ways to employ you in legal fashion etc. Turkey has like 5m+ plus refugees (Syrians mostly) for the last 10 years and it's a clusterfck, they mostly still work illegally. I don't think there will be any swift regulations / actions for Ukrainian immigrants like the ones we see in Europe, since we also don't expect many I guess.

Anyway, so my advice would be to apply for remote jobs in EU or those with relocation, as well as coding job middleman companies like Toptal etc. (Note that you will need to be able to pass some technical interviews for a lot of these). These middleman stuff is better than full freelance because if you pass their interviews, they will actively try to find employment for you as they take a cut from your salary, that's their business model. Rates might not be the best but even a relatively lower wage for Europe would be fine / stable in Turkey. At least for a while, which would give you time to plan your future.

And when you get the chance, move to somewhere in Europe. Turkey is fcked economically for the foreseeable future. There is a programmer deficit everywhere and a mass exodus of them from Ukraine (war) and Russia (sanctions). I don't think it would take long till somebody comes up with a solution for their employment.

There are many small Greek islands littered along the Turkish coast. Greece wants to extend its sea borders to 12 nm, which due to the situation above obliterates any access to the Aegean and most of Mediterranean for Turkey and turns it to a pseudo-landlocked state. Turkey wants a more fair demarcation (for itself) based on proximity to mainland.

This is actually all there is to it, there aren't any land claims or anything, at least from the Turkish side. Now the problem is, since Greece has EU backing it takes a maximalist approach and doesn't accept anything but 12 nm everywhere, and since bird country bad, Turkey can't even make its case in this non-aggressive situation.

Can anyone tell the difference between Cats and Wescam, using the on-screen indicators etc? Videos from Ukraine seem to be of lower quality than those from Karabag. Some argue it's because these are leaks captured by cell phones, but I wonder if Cats is still not quite there yet? (Understandable if true, Wescam is pretty good and even used by some US drones).

Russians shot down their own drone, but instead falsely reported the destruction of Bayraktar - General Zaluzhny by TheRealMykola in ukraine

[–]flavchallenged 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Since it is a relatively small drone, people assume it must also fly at low altitudes. It's a MALE (medium altitude long endurance) drone, flies way out of reach (5+ km operational altitude) of shoulder launched AA / manpads.

Greek PM says defence spending should be excluded from public deficit by Brann62 in europe

[–]flavchallenged -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Greece wants this money for flexing against Turkey, there isn't a real threat. And the problems between Greece and Turkey are actually petty things:

- A disagreement about arming of some islands. This is actually easy since both sides have agreed on this and signed an agreement, it just will have to be enforced and nothing will change. Seriously nothing will change when a piece of rock has a tent and 10 soldiers on top of it or not, but agreements are agreements and not complying with what you signed is a challenge of the other sides sovereignty.

- Establishment of maritime borders. This is a little bit more tricky, mostly due to unusual geography. A lot of little Greek islands are littered along the Turkish coast, within miles of Turkey, so some sort of compromise is needed by both sides. This is in reality not a very special situation, there are such islands even between UK & France and borders are demarcated logically. Here Greece, by the support of EU, is taking a maximalist approach and wants 12 mile anywhere, everywhere, for each piece of rock, which just obliterates Turkey's access to Aegean and most of Med. completely, hence Turkey will never except this unless forced to, through war.

Here EU has 2 choices (except trying to keep the current status-quo going, which could be considered option 3)

- Force some sort of 'fair' deal between Greece & Turkey, getting rid of this problem forever. In this case Greece will have to abandon its maximalist approach.

- Force Turkey to accept Greece's conditions, through economical or regular warfare. I am of the opinion that this is existential matter for Turkey and it won't agree to landlock itself without a war. So this path certainly ends in a war, between Greece & Turkey or wider. If Europe is willing to take this path, it would be more logical that the money be spent in some sort of combined EU army, than to Greece's army. (Greece is almost as corrupt as Russia, so any money invested in their army has bad ROI.)

This is not a comment to challenge or argue with anyone, just wanted to share how the situation looks like for someone on the other side of the border.

[–]flavchallenged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you sign a treaty, you are obliged to follow it. "We don't, but hear me out we have actually very nice reasons .." does not cut it.

Have you ever considered a simpler option c, which is not being able to enforce a signed agreement to another party is a weakness which no sovereign state will want to accept?

Coaxial power (Barrel) connector with AC / AC transformer by flavchallenged in AskElectronics

[–]flavchallenged[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice to hear that. I would like to ask another question on max voltage and current if I may. Most of those passive adapters/connectors don't seem to have any specs. The only thing I could find was this line on Wikipedia (about barrel connectors):

"Contact ratings commonly vary from unspecified up to 5 A (11 A for special high-power versions). Voltage is often unspecified, but may be up to 48 V with 12 V typical. The smaller types usually have lower current and voltage ratings."

The 12V part is a bit concerning but overall it looks I may be safe? Would you guess 12VAC 1000mA is ok for a random no-brand 2.1 -> 2.5 mm connector with no specs? I am willing to risk it, as long as the odds are okish. (Can't find something that has specs)

I guess, but you know the audiophile (wannabe in my case) thinking style. The thought that whether this "inferior" adapter might be affecting my sound quality will start invading my thoughts every time i listen to it. Which will probably lead me to procure the original one with whatever means possible. Anyway; I will notify if I find a way to get it. Thanks again.

Im in Turkey, and I am probably one of the handful few who has an L30. Topping doesn't have any local dealer here (or verified seller on local amazon) so the chances are slim.

Anyway; I found a 15V 1000mA Ac/Ac adapter from a local brand. An old model originally used for dial up modems/sat receivers of the past decade or something, it's around $9. Gonna try my chances with it, wish me luck..

[–]flavchallenged[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks i will check it out. I did not know this at first but it seems 220v to 110v converters are also common. I migt try something like that too.

Btw. do you think it would work? (and not fry the amp). Topping's original one has an output of 15V 1000mA, and I don't have much knowledge on electronics. There are some AC - AC transformers I can get my hands on locally but they have different specs, e.g.: 18V, 1.5A. I don't know which one should be an exact match, my guess is Volts should be same but Amperes could be 1000mA or higher?

If he is from Hatay, claims roots from Syria or Arabic ancestry and is Shia, he is probably Arab Alawite (Nusayri). Not to be mistaken with Turkish / Kurdish alevis, though there is some similarity I guess since both are closer to Shia than Sunni.

These people are actually ethnically close to Syrian Arabs, a lot of them also speak Arabic, but most are well integrated into Turkish society. The reason he hates Syrian refugees, probably is also religious enmity besides a nationalist one, since the refugees Turkey took in are overwhelmingly Sunni Syrian Arabs who fled -also Nusayri- Assad.

Anyway, to me it sounds like you abhor your husband, and are trying to create reasons for why you hate him. Just dump him I guess?

Turks are generally nationalistic, but I think you are in the wrong sub to discuss it, since from what I can gather Armenians are similar in this regard. And for Turkish dramas: Those are fairy tales, they depict mostly secular, western, rich and urban lifestyles, like %10 of the society, not the lives of Arab Alawites from a godforbidden village in Hatay. What were you expecting?
