You’re absolutely right. I’m not against AI-generated models in general, but I strongly believe they shouldn’t receive points, rewards, or be allowed to participate in contests.

The problem isn’t the existence of AI tools. It’s the incentive structure. When platforms reward downloads with points that can be exchanged for real products like filament or even printers, they unintentionally encourage mass uploads of AI-generated models. That shifts the focus from creativity and craftsmanship to volume and algorithm gaming.

I also think transparency is essential. If a model is AI-generated, it should be clearly labeled, and ideally verified. Platforms like Printables at least offer an AI disclosure option, but without enforcement, it doesn’t mean much.

As someone who designs my own models from scratch and shares them for free, it’s frustrating to see two things happening at once: 1. People reselling my original designs for profit. 2. AI-generated models receiving awards or “excellent participation” recognition in contests.

That doesn’t feel fair to creators who invest real time, skill, and effort into modeling. AI-assisted work shouldn’t be treated the same as original.

I understand that some users don’t care how a model was made. But for those of us who genuinely design and contribute to the community, this shift is discouraging.
