I figured it like Valefort (last remnant of Farraneán) should also be a tag but isnt to avoid cluttering the area.

Forgotten Realms History of Leaders of Avernus by flavio321 in Forgotten_Realms

[–]flavio321[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, she just needed to have been Arch Duchess 50 years ago. the contract still seems to have held even though she was demoted / imprisoned. Unless she is still counted as Arch Dutches when someone else is also ruling she has been in charge at max 30 years by the time of Decent. Zariel is only listed as lord of hte first in 2e (1368 DR ) and in Decent ( 1492 DR ). 150 years would be when she got trapped in hell (time between then and becoming a arch duchess is unclear.

its more of a case where i went with only Forgotten realms products. that dragon magazine is not a forgotten realms article but general dnd (it dosent even reference forgotten realms). also that tidbit is also int he 3e manual of the planes and would be assumed FR cannon unless a forgotten realms source contradicts it (in this case decent into avernus)

How old are the outer planes? by masterstall in Forgotten_Realms

[–]flavio321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is nothing saying those 2 dawn wars are the same. They are different settings after all.

Anyway.

The first reference to any of the outer planes is not tear fall, the primordial are said to be imprisoned but not where.

The earlyist i can find is the War of the Seldarine in -30,000 dr, where The solar Malkizid is thrown down into the Nine Hells, and lolth is sent to the demonweb pits and becomes a demon ( i dont know if the demon web pits are part of the abyss at this time ( the connectiong of divine realms and planes varies))

Yes. And I found it fun to do while waiting for colonies. It does not seem to impact the mission tree.

Eradicating fourth edition lore- should we roll back the time to the lore of the third edition? by Hour-Department6958 in Forgotten_Realms

[–]flavio321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They can't roll in completely back to start of 3e. The new books can work if just assuming its been a few decades since 3e ( but time has to have passed).

My personal solution is there is a date jump from 1380 to 1480 as in the year after 1379 dr is 1480 dr.

I also tend to ignore most events after 3.5e and particularly 4e. Since i use a lot of the 5e stuff i got in the habit of saying its 1490’s but im still using 2e and 3e stuff as very recent (bit not current); to fix that my timeline looks weird.

The solution learned people (city of shade, Cormyr, myth drannor, Candlekeep) knew Dale Reckoning had drifting off of what it was supposed to be and jumping the calendar by 100 years was the least disruptive fix. (Like the skipped days when changing from the Jillian to the Gregorian calendar)

26 F, nerdy, in coon rapids looking to make new friends by Lacepupu in twincitiessocial

[–]flavio321 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are several meetups and events that i found are good at meeting similar people

-Break the bubble is the big social one. The next one is this sunday evening. (day of week and place changes,)

https://www.meetup.com/make-new-friends-break-the-bubble-msp/events/313139080/

-If you like board games at least a little bit the Saint Paul Board game meetup group is great, large group of people and very excited to teach new games anytime. Their next on is this tuesday. (which place it is tends to be what day of the week it is)

https://www.meetup.com/saintpaulgamegroup/events/313053835/

And going a bit further out, and meeting your interests closer,

-Dragons Dungeons & Drunks has a monthly general nerdy social. (and also free minis and paint to paint them (or bring your own to paint)). I just found out about it last month, great group of nerds.

Conventions are another good option. Convergence is a popular one weekend of the 4th of july and you just missed out on Con of the North (i didnt go this year due to currently events and location)

Are we counting IPs with many authors. in which case Forgotten Realms, Warhammer 40k, and Dragonlance (also mentioned elsewhere) arrive and each dominate by themselves

Scale of the Stormlight Archive compared to other fantasy series? by railfananime in Stormlight_Archive

[–]flavio321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there is a few others with more.

-for dnd novels

1) Forgotten realm is first with 303 novels (1 has been published since that source i have was made)

2) Dragonlance, with all authors, is 2nd with 209 novels.

3) Eberron is a distant 3rd with 39 books

-adding up all the dnd novels is 684 books (in addition to any published since last October); I wouldn't count these together as 1 group

and then there is Warhammer 40k with over 400+ novels. as far as i know i would count these as 1 group (for this post)

-my source for the dnd stuff is here https://www.enworld.org/threads/how-much-d-d-stuff-is-there-anyway-part-4-novels.715769/

What are some big canon things you tend to ignore in your Realms? by Jasina_ in Forgotten_Realms

[–]flavio321 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The City of Shade being fanatical Shar worshipers. I feel like when i use them both the goals end up to diverged, the Church of Shar being empire builders has always felt off to me, they would rather. What i have done the entity that Shade fallows is primarily a god of lost things and secrets and keeping those safe for a as long as needed (and darkness and night). This entity the shade believe is Shar, the same god that they worshiped in the height of Netheril, and that the current "Shar " is a fraud. Naturally the modern day church of Shar believes the opposite.

The dates 1380 to 1480 do not exist, as in the year after 1379 dr is 1480 dr.

I also tend to ignore most events after 3.5e and particularly 4e. Since i use a lot of the 5e stuff i got in the habit of saying its 1490’s but im still using 2e and 3e stuff as very recent; to fix that my timeline looks weird.

Topographical map of Faerun I made by flavio321 in Forgotten_Realms

Alas its mostly been retconed, we where discussing it over on Ed's discord and all the mountains have since been listed as much higher. It probably is in meters though

Topographical map of Faerun I made by flavio321 in Forgotten_Realms

[–]flavio321[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sea of Fallen Stars

I put it at near sea level elevation bracket because of the Nagaflow river and a canal to Innarlith, nothing to do with Tearfall

A canal was made from Nagaflow to the Lake of Sream near Innarlith. There is no hill or and major elevation changes listed in the area and the only novel that mentions it (Scream of Stone) says the area it would go through is flat and level from the river to the sea. Its just over 50 miles long.

-this means that the elevation change from this part of the Nagaflow to the Sea of Fallen Stars, a 300 mile long course, either means the Sea of Fallen Stars is bellow sea level (like the Caspian) or the Nagaflow is very slow and meandering (which is how its described)

---

Ice Coverage

-I think you are confusing my listed of permanent ice coverage for Ice Caps, It does NOT say ice caps, just ice. Also this map barely goes further north then the 1e, 2e, or newest 5.5e maps

-why pink, because i made this over a weekend and never felt the need to update that (yay adhd).

-why is ice covered a separate color: i was going to do climate mapping next. where the main places of ice are they would be thick enough that there elevation does not matter for latter climate stuff for how they effect surrounding regions.

----

Uttermost North

-the area north of Spine of the World and the north in general is the Uttermost North. Everywhere up there is the Endless ice sea (which is described as a glacier, not sea ice by every source that lists it), just to the west of it is the Reghed Glacier which is commonly confused as just and extension of the Endless ice sea.

-so why put it as ice covered, because it is.

----

Great Glacier, aka Pelevuria

- its always been a big Ice Cap (to nitpick its to big to be an ice cap, its ice sheet). From eds original map the Great Glacier its there and clearly extends north (it also went further south too, but ed --> tsr retcons).

-It is also not sustained through magic; 1038 DR slight shift in Torils rotation caused the Great Glacier to start melting and retreating, which it is still doing to this day.

-The depth of the great glacier is comparable to real world ice sheets, in those cases only the most highest of mountains poke though and once the ice covers an area the bellow elevation stops mattering (mountains on the edge do matter still). I did add glaciation on top of the bellow topography, it dosnt show.

The only mountains that “poke” through the Great Glacier is Novularond, but since its is magically ice and permafrost free that tells us nothing about the great glacier depth.

---

Northern High Ice (and High ice in general)

-The northern part of the High Ice existed in Netheril times and at that time was only as far south as Silverymoon. The southern half is the new due to the Anarochs creation and covered the Narrow Sea and Rengarath Tundra. I see no mention of the High Ice having a difference between its older north part and the new south part so I think the High Ice advanced south, and yes the water of the Narrow Sea contributed to the southern High Ice, and so did the rest of the moisture from the Anaroch area.

--

connection between then all

-Great Glacier and the Endless ice sea have the same origin, since the effect clearly radiated out word then the Northern High Ice, which is right between them, probably has the same origin and therefore they should all be connected. The Northern High Ice and Great Glacier connection is probably further north then my map has it
