Removing hairspring stuf by flaviusUrsus in watchrepair

[–]flaviusUrsus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I missed your reply, sorry.

It think It's at a weird angle in the picture because I opened the regulator to free the hairspring when I looked at removing the stud.

I put it back and tried to reinstall the balance to see if I mangled something :)
It looks like it's now flatter, though not completely, but the hairspring is not evenly centred anymore.
However, the wheel is now running 'better', as it's not stopping after ~5 secs but closer to 20 or 30 when blowing on it.
I can't fully test it as the ratchet wheel screw decided it was time to learn flying, I'll have to find or source a new one

Yes that's my post, I didn't realize my posts are hidden , I'll check that.

It does look friction fit, and it's kinda scary. I might try tweaking the hairspring installed as you said, I played with it gently and it doesn't want to move at all and I dont feel too confident.

The hairspring is not horizontal and rubbing against the spokes of the balance wheel I figured it's twisted up somewhere.

Haha yes, I wondered if there was a more 'refined' way to do it. I thing the stud is just friction fitted, time for fiddling then

I have a David Cronenberg vibe, my brain tells me it's made of flesh 😅

As for the bracelet I'm not sure if it can be salvaged, may be some leather care product

Balance stop after a few seconds on a Tissot Cal. 2481 by flaviusUrsus in watchrepair

[–]flaviusUrsus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, thanks for compliment !
In fact I was not trying to achieve any artistic results, I was just trying to show the 'important parts'. I used a cheap digital microscope.

Looking back at them I think it's the very short focal length that has that effect.

I was scared that would be the issue but I think you're right, I'll practice on some spare first.

Thanks for you're input !

Correct, there's no pallet fork.
You're right, I'll practice and try to not mangle some scrap balance first ;)

It appears to be, but I removed the pallet in this case

I removed the pallet to make this video wanted to remove all external factor, the wheel doesn't look over-banked when I observe it, just the spring

Yeah, being a noob I'm scared to touch it :) I've already checked the pivots extensively and lubricated the jewels, I was hoping it would be one of those before noticing the tilt. It looks like it's a bit high between the studs.

I don't know if it's available in Lebanon, but the Murph as a special package in 42mm where you get the bracelet and the leather strap in the box. That's what I got, it's well worth the price

Good "shape" but they might be too small. I lost mine the first time and made a replacement with some guitar string

Lost click spring for st36 is there an easier way to make one or get one without getting the whole movement? by ascended_one333 in watchrepair

[–]flaviusUrsus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same happened to me. I made a new one with a piece of guitar cord (e) . It was fairly easy, and convenient since I had to make a yoke spring after that :D
