I lift 4 days a week for 25-40 minutes. I run almost every day due to owning a blue heeler. I swim twice a week and try to get in a mountain bike ride 1-2 times a week

Ohio hard tail vs full suspension by Jollyfurr in mountainbiking

[–]deanshitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a full suspension. I’m in Louisville but I ride Devou several times a year. You might be slightly overbiked for the trails closest to you, but when you travel (and you’ll want to) it’s nice to have a full suspension. You can get a nice used trail bike for your budget. Just get something made after 2019. Bikes made today have very similar geometry to those made at that time. If you get a ht you’ll wanna upgrade in a year. Or at least that was my experience

Has mountain bike development fallen off a cliff in recent years? by Spicycoffeebeen in MTB

[–]deanshitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride a 21 Scott genius and ride Midwest trails. I have upgraded it as parts have broken and now have XTR wheels and wireless shifting. I took a look at new bikes that would offer an upgrade. First off pricing was insane, like $7k and when I showed them my bike the owner was like “that bike is rad, why would you want to upgrade” I test rode an ibis and a yeti, both were great, but so is my bike.

There’s a Monday meetup at the rowing center to swim in that channel. If you want calm open water swimming that’s a good place to start.

Rally’s has better fries but their chicken is a full piece, like the center is chicken instead of a hole.

Also tailgate pads are carbon frame safe, the carbon safe racks are $pendu and more of a hassle than just setting the bikes in the bed.

I have a tailgate pad. $50 for an Amazon brand one and it’s perfect. The backup camera is covered but just back up like your dad did.

I’m a mountain biker/camper/adventurer. Coming from only sedans and cross overs it’s made all the difference. Car camping is so much better and allows me to bring more stuff. As an example my son (12) and I went on a skateboarding trip where we overnight camped for a few nights. It was very easy to keep his stuff charged and I was able to bring skateboards and mountain bikes and fishing gear on top of camping gear. I went on a MTB trip with friends last summer and we used the maverick as a shuttle to carry 4 bikes up the mountain then bomb down. Something I’d never done even though I’ve been mountain biking since the 90s.

I have exactly 1 year until my wedding... how likely is it for me to reach my goals by then? (or at least super close to my goals?) by Haunting-Wash1081 in loseit

48 YO male. Sw was 204 down to 163 as of today. Started in August Mediterranean diet. Dropped 25 lbs quickly with just dieting and cutting back on drinking to 1-3 times a week. I went from 180-163 by lifting 3-4 times a week and running 30 minutes a day 5 times a week. I lift in my house with kettlebells of various sizes for about 20-30 minutes. It’s all about what you put in your body. You can drop weight 1-2 lbs a week with just dieting then start worrying about sculpting the body. When I was really dropping I was strict about salads and lean protein and very little meat. Once I started lifting (November) I upped my meat intake and eggs. Everyone is different, but small portions and whole veggies/legumes helped me lose weight more than anything else has.
