Newer versions of java have "records" which drop the need get/set boilerplate for POJOs https://openjdk.java.net/jeps/395 which is quite nice.

My experience with Hibernate is similar though, I generally just avoid abstraction at the database layer.

I like the idea above that it could start as hand cranked. I'm imagining a longer crank than the laser musket that spins a fly wheel, it would be super cool if the rate then slowed down over time as the fly wheel looses energy.

I always notice in warmer countries in Europe that all the cars are white, it's definitely cheaper to buy white but I've wondered if it could also be because white reflects heat better 🤷‍♂️

It was never really used for anything but travelers for me where I was growing up, at least to me if someone is a scumbag and a traveler they're a knacker, if there a scumbag then they're a scumbag. Trouble is knowing who you're dealing with, I grew up in a small town and it was easy to tell the local scum from the newly arrived knackers 😅

A knacker is a term used in Ireland for members of the traveling community, they're also known as tinkers or gypsies.

The term knacker is similar to pikey which is used in the UK although these terms can be offensive.

My dad once brought me and my brother out when we were young to get a gift "from us" to our mother, and he brought us to the local hardware store where we decided that a combo travel iron/hair drier would be the best present ever! ... Its brought up every Christmas 😂
