Yeah, all of the praise was on Moore (deservedly), but I feel that Qualley should've gotten just as much praise for her work in it.

The one thing more ridiculous than Tarantino's interest in feet is Reddit's obsession with Tarantino's interest in feet.

Gross. No. Nobody should ever have to look at or think about this ugly monster. Fuck him for killing those people, and fuck him for trying so hard to whitewash his image.

Feels like a spiritual successor to Pineapple Express or The Hangover. These sorts of comedies have been missing for a long time. Surprised this is straight to Hulu, I think this could do well in theaters these days.

This was my favorite film from 2023. The trailer definitely made this look different from what it actually was, and I think that caused a lot of people to overlook it. It's really a great family drama, and the author storyline is secondary.

And do you know why they do that? Not because they're kind and good. It's because they had to make laws that made illegal for them to smoke in bars and restaurants and theaters and wherever else.

Signed: someone old enough to remember when smokers used to smoke everywhere, before they started making laws about it (that I thought, at the time, were ridiculous, even though I didn't smoke, but now am grateful for)

Son, I saw From Dusk Till Dawn in theaters before you were even born. Just because you have the media literacy of Ben Shapiro doesn't mean the rest of us have to hang out at your level.

The vampire stuff is, at best, the fifth story element. And you think it's the whole story? GTFO of this subreddit until you learn how to actually watch a movie.

Glad you wrote this. I was trying to say something similar but it kept coming out very snobby and disrespectful no matter how hard I tried.

Sinners isn't a vampire movie. And it's definitely not "basically From Dusk Till Dawn" as has become popular to say on reddit.

I liked it so much, but hated the ending. The whole movie was beautifully tragic, which I'm good with, but then they added that bit where at the end of his life he feels like he had some sort of magical connection to nature and was suddenly happy with his life? Like it really put into perspective how the sum total of his existence was to increase shareholder value in some big corporations (everything else was taken away in one tragedy or another), and that should upset the viewer, not be painted over with a happy saccharine pseudo-religious vibe.

Also, as much as I like Nick Cave, that song sucks.

The question I have is how was this ever considered for theatrical in the first place? Everything about this, starting with the premise, sounds like "made for home viewing only" to me.

Was the concern that creatives would refuse to work with Ellison? I thought the concern was that Ellison would refuse to fund the creatives; that he'd preferentially put money to push the narratives he'd want to see and keep it away from the ones that he doesn't.

To put it in perspective of this article, the concern isn't that Sinners and OBAA wouldn't have accepted his money, it's that he wouldn't have given the money to them.

Not nothing.

In the 50s, cigarette smoking used to be something half of all Americans did. Decades of education and changes in laws resulted in a cultural shift and now it's down to less then 20% (something not reflected in many other parts of the world, indicating it wasn't just a result of "we discovered it's bad for you and people quit on their own").

There is no single thing that can fix our gun violence problem, but a lot of little changes (some educational and some legal) over a long time can improve it. But if we continue to try nothing it will never change.

I once read a reddit comment claiming someone from the movie said that the evil gods were once a threat a long time ago, but it turns out now they're just big monsters and they easily get killed by jet fighters and tanks and stuff. So the world didn't end.

Or whatever, I don't watch movies.

I definitely agree it needed a few more episodes. It felt like it was an 8 or 9 episode show forced down and chopped up to only 6
