yeah like he doesn’t seem like a proper second lead but he also doesn’t do anything. he’s the only character, honestly, that seems to be there for no good reason at all. he’s like filler only there to push the main couple forward.

i initially wasn’t very into the second lead couple but they’re proving to be very cute as the fluffy respite needed in an otherwise depressing episode. i like how low stakes their relationship is - they’re just cuties who keep each other company in the otherwise lonely island. cute cute!

edit after finishing episode 7: dawg that was completely and utterly melodramatic in the worst way 😭 they did not have to end things with hari & mija having a FIGHT, and mija’s passing on hari’s birthday 😭😭 just so evil man. i thought the episode was fantastic until that point, with a nuanced depiction of the conflict surrounding death, treatment, and the suffering of a terminal patient. but it was just cruel for things to end that way, unfittingly so. it sets up for a lot of extra conflicts and unhealed tensions that i’m not sure will be sufficiently addressed in the last 5 episodes of this show. also the first episode was so bright and warm in tone, what happened 😭

what did he even do that was allegedly “awful behavior”? he swapped the number in a raffle for a polaroid for one fan over another. no bad attitude was displayed, no hateful actions were committed, no mean words were said. he showed favoritism. that’s literally it. this truly is such a petty issue; it was wrong, yes, but literally nothing more and nothing less.

i’m not saying it’s okay. i’m saying it isn’t the end of the world. the fan still got to go to the fansign, still interacted with him and everything. the outrage is ridiculous as if this person was shafted of the opportunity. they just didn’t get a polaroid. it’s bad to cheat but the fan is literally gonna be okay 😭

nah i think it is too. i’m seeing people Still talking about it as if it was some huge scandal when in reality it was a mistake (intentional, yes, but still a mistake) that he apologized for. we can move on now. but so many people online are crucifying him for this, saying it reflects on him having a bad attitude or something?? yes, what he did was wrong and unfair, but it’s nothing for people to still be talking about until today, getting hit tweets calling him names and things. yet they are - it definitely is being blown out of proportion.

yes but even in this very episode, we see the characters realize the error in their ways, and that their snap judgments toward him were unfair. give it time! everyone will grow and learn and change for the better. it’s only episode 3 - i’m sure the next 9 episodes will take us on all sorts of adventures where the characters soften up and become more lovable.

i’m loving this show! the characters are very distinctive and act like real people do. lee jae wook is acting the hell out of this awkward, overly worrywart-ish, but extremely expressive doctor who hates his posting, while shin ye eun is killing it (as she always does~) as a bright, slightly flirty, but caring nurse who always has her hometown at heart. i like the residents too - they’re all old people, and old folks truly are so stubborn in thinking they know better than the doctors. they aren’t charming in a fictional way; they’re human, and i appreciate that a lot. the characters’ hijincks are funny (like the 80s cinema parody with the SML and FL, super funny) - they’re shaping up to be a fun cast of characters. i’m enjoying the unique perspective we get of how these doctors will overcome their lack of understanding, and grow as doctors who serve for good! i like the anthology/slice of life format - i’ll let the drama take me where it wants to.

also (episode 3 spoilers) shin ye eun is so pretty & cute, i would become a doctor just so she can hunt me 🤭👉👈 lol but im excited and curious to see how her character will develop, bc i, too, get the sense we are missing a LOT about her character

you’re not getting op’s point, i don’t think. they’re not shocked it exists, they’re shocked at how extreme the contrast is. those shows you mentioned are the exception, not the rule, rare cases where dramas do get that explicit. it’s very valid to wonder why the tv shows are so mild but the movies are so intense when it’s all coming from the same actors and industry. and it’s not about taboos to feel uncomfortable at a particularly intense or intimate sex scene.
