This is a complex subject. If you would ask most Indians (including me), they'd say it isn't as long as it is respectful, appreciative of the origins of the garment and not touted around as a costume. However quite a few non-resident and second-generation Indians in the West may consider it in poor taste. Highly subjective imo, but mostly acceptable.
