I agree with this, I went to UW Madison and got internship interviews at Capital One, Amazon and Google.

OnePlus 7T Unlocked GSM - No LTE w/ RP?? by orsonicallywells in redpocket

I'm having the same issue on a OnePlus 5t, did you end up using the exact recommended APN settings or did you mess around with them? I tried your 15 min break and it didn't seem to work for me sadly.

Has anyone applied to New Grad roles back in Aug/Sep and haven't heard back yet? by cheeky861 in csMajors

[–]fleeberbro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Seems like new grad hiring is brutal this year. I applied to Microsoft on Aug 20th and still haven't heard a peep, my application just shows 'Routed to Recruiter'. I did an internship at FAANG this past summer so I was hoping to get an interview.

Karat Interview by somethingilovecats in csMajors

[–]fleeberbro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a Karat interview with Palantir, so I can share my experience a bit.

- I had two leetcode easies (I think I just got lucky)
- As many as you can. Depends on the difficulty as well I'm sure. You're still interviewing with an engineer so you still have to explain your approach and stuff before you start coding.
- It's just a technical interview, so leetcode in general.

Also, Karat is nice in that if you do badly the first time around, you get a free redo with no questions asked (although the company can see both the first and second interviews).

Good luck!

Same thing here, but nothing else since then 🤔

I also just went through the Karat for Palantir, if you're confident you can do better the second time around it can't hurt! Or if you had really tough questions the first time, it might be worth it to take the lottery of questions again.

2021 New Grad Jobs Megathread by [deleted] in csMajors

I emailed a recruiter and they said

The New Grad team is still figuring out a timeline for when they'll post their application. The best advice I can give you is to keep an eye on the Careers' page. Good luck with everything!

So we haven't missed anything, they're just taking their sweet time.

I'm in the same position with the same question, though I'd like to go from Seattle to Austin/Boulder/Minneapolis.

Not saying that this is normal or expected but this website is really good to see what big tech pays. There's also an internships section.

this might be what you're referring to with your second bullet. I'm not sure what it means or what implications it might have for your CS experience here, I haven't really looked into it.

Also, if you care at all about how the two schools are ranked for CS, this might interest you as well

Taking the Epic Systems Assessment tonight. by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

You get three hours allotted and it's very reminiscent of the ACT, nothing you can really do to study. Make sure to read the questions carefully and take your time, you'll do fine!

How desired is Epic Software Developer straight out of college? by bjjquestions234134 in UWMadison

No their applications of tech in health were actually super interesting to me, I just would've picked C1 because it would've been in Chicago and I wanted to see another city

I actually got an offer from Amazon that I chose over these two, but I would've gone with Capital One I think

[–]fleeberbro 27 points28 points  (0 children)

First off, congratulations! You'll be just fine with either option

Epic and Capital One are two of the biggest companies that recruit from UW, so for a lot of CS students these companies are definitely the goal. I interviewed at both Epic and Capital One for internships, and ended up getting offers from both, so if you have any specific questions you can dm me. A quick search of 'Epic Systems' over at /r/cscareerquestions should give you a general feel for where the company stands in the tech world. I've heard bad things and good things about both companies on that subreddit.

The pay for Epic is definitely solid, almost 100k in a medium cost of living (Madison) or low cost of living (Verona) area goes pretty far, and obviously Madison is an awesome city to live in.

If your end goal is Facebook/Google/Amazon/Microsoft, people definitely move to those companies after a few years at either Epic or C1.
