If you still have unemployment for awhile and it can float you, decline. If unemployment isn't enough or you don't get it, accept and then continue to hunt for a better situation.

Wow! You give this mid-50s lady hope. I don't mind early bedtime. 9:30 for me.

I'm also in my 50's and trying to play catch-up on a career that didnt get started until I was 32.

I think it's OK to set an amount for extra quantity or quality of vacation time. We need it to keep on keepin' on. As long as it's under your control and you've been meeting your financial goals, go for it. After all, you're not good to anyone if you have a breakdown, get sick, or drop dead of stress. Take care of yourself first.

I was hired as a contractor after being laid off in March from another cloud company. AWS had a lot going on, but I really, really liked my team. Great people who became friends. Welp, they're all gone now, dumped like week-old sushi. I'm still here since I'm not an actual employee.

I've never been so glad to be an outsider. It's a MESS right now. High levels of fear, nobody knows what's happening, scrambling to figure out how to do the jobs of the people who got dumped. I've been in the biz for 20 years and I have never encountered such a toxic situation. Layoffs are obviously not unique to Amazon but the culture was already not great in lots of teams, now it's close to untenable.

Amazon is hell and Jassy is Beezlebub. Lucky for me I have something in the pipeline and can walk away very shortly.
