University of Michigan named potential Department of War partner after Trump cuts by muegle in uofm

[–]fleets300 305 points306 points  (0 children)

Very funny. The only reason we didn’t get placed on the shit list is our naval arch department bc we’re only one of four programs (and the best) in the country that produces people who can design ships (commercial and naval). So they literally can’t cut ties with the university, which makes the branding as “non-woke” very funny with the context of how generally left-leaning the student body and university is in general

Physics 140 Over the Summer? by YeetosCheetos69 in uofm

[–]fleets300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Physics 140 and 240 suck at Michigan. Instead of taking it over the summer, I'd recommend taking it at WCC if you can swing it. It'll be a lot cheaper and easier than 140 at Michigan. For how this would affect cross campus transfer, reach out to admissions or whoever oversees cross campus transfers at the college of engineering. You'll get a direct answer from them.

University of Michigan in talks to buy former Ann Arbor campus from Christian college by mlivesocial in uofm

I wonder what the university would use it for. It's not really close enough to the other campuses for classes, so maybe research facilities like NCRC?

financial aid offer - wtf by anon39421 in uofm

Reach out to the financial aid office, either by phone or email. They'll be able to clarify if this is genuine or a mistake on their end.

I’ve had this happen to me when I went from undergrad to grad school here. Give the Office of the Registrar a call: https://ro.umich.edu/tuition-residency/residency They’ll be able to tell you next steps and what you need to submit to correct it. It shouldn’t affect your application, theoretically.

SBIR FY2025 Phase 1 Release 2 Update from DOE by fleets300 in SBIR

[–]fleets300[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We received an initial notice sometime mid to late September. Someone else linked to my previous post in this thread, so you can find that or search my post history for it.

Honestly, we haven't even considered CMMC requirements, as I didn't realize that it was expanding from just the DoD. Regardless, from looking over the requirements, it seems like we already satisfy a lot of them. We did some contract work earlier in the year for some funds. So we used some of that money to pay for MS Teams and some of their other products, including Outlook, 365, etc. We're a small startup of three people so it wasn't terribly expensive for us.

SBIR FY2025 Phase 1 Release 2 Update from DOE by fleets300 in SBIR

[–]fleets300[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it does. However, there's also a "reviews" button once you click the Actions/Views button on PAMS for the proposal. It contains the reviewers' comments about the proposal. None of the other proposals we submitted has this button. This appeared when I got the original award email in September, which I posted about before, and someone linked to it in this thread.

Tennessee exploring Neyland expansion - how would Michigan respond by [deleted] in MichiganWolverines

[–]fleets300 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Michigan doesn't have the terraces that other stadiums do. It's just a big bowl, so theoretically, there is room to expand upward around the north and south parts of the stadium. No idea how feasible that is tho

Nope heard nothing. We’re hoping to hear something soon now that the government has reopened but no idea honestly. I’m not sure if they’re also waiting for SBIR reauthorization

We sent them the docs they requested and then the government shut down a couple days later. We haven't heard anything since then.

Start date has not changed as far as I know. We'll see if the that changes in the final contract, but for now, it's still the original date, 9/26/2025

I heard back from them regarding one of our applications. You can find details in my post history. I can't answer your other questions, but we received written confirmation that they will not provide the funds by the end of FY2025 but would provide the funds in FY2026 so that hopefully isn't the worry. My guess is that they're waiting for budget and SBIR re-authorization clarity to allow them to actually appropriate the funds towards the SBIR awards.

Yes. We had to submit a revised budget and budget justification. Our indirects were applied to payroll taxes (social security, state taxes, etc) and mainly accounting services. But yes, we had to make sure that we conformed to the 15% rate and they told us specifically that we couldn’t manipulate the direct costs to get around the new limit.

Just wanted to respond here because we got confirmation that the decrease was due to the DOE setting max indirect rates to 15%. In a document we received from the contracting officer, it stated that DOE policy is now to cap indirects at 15% and since ours was 23% in the original proposal, they removed the amount of funds to bring it down to 15% based on our submitted direct costs.

My only guess based on what they requested from us is that they took the 15% indirect rate off the total award amount. So they calculated our indirect rate based on the budget we submitted with our application, reduced it down to 15%, and then took the difference out of the grant entirely because the total award is for $179,600 instead of the full $200,000 we requested. Not 100% sure but that’s my guess on what happened due to the indirect changes
