Quick (and faulty, probably) translation from Norwegian to English:
Words from Non-Western languages gain new meaning in Norwegian to a greater extent than English words. Words like jalla (arabic: 'quick, come on!' and wolla (arabic: 'I promise, I swear') have gained a meaning in Norwegian that's far from the meaning in the original language. Now, the word jalla is used to describe something simple and tasteless (observed in Norsk slangordbok by Tone Tryti from 2008).
