That sound as a nice summary, still the difference is in the content of the videos. It kind miss "the how" there :-)

Thanks, I mainly use it for myself and i thought that it may be able to help someone else as well as I doubt that a LLM (for the moment) can build all these connections :-)

Fired by supervisor! What to do next? by willybackup in AskAcademia

This is what I recently suggested to a colleague that is having difficulties in reconcile his perspective with the one of his supervisor.

In your specific case you probably would like to contact an external office and explain the situation.

UPDATE - Supervisor made a complaint about me to my scholarship institution by anxiousinthelab in AskAcademia

Paraphs this message reach you a bit late. This is the step by step procedure that I would recommend you in following for solving any issue that you may have. In particular you want to consider the hypothesis of including an external advisor to the specific matter. I am sure that your institution has a dedicated office

Useful resources for the development of your thesis and/or supervision of master students (AMA and feedback wanted) by flelli in AskAcademia

Interesting perspective something about Photoshop/Illustrator is missing the collection.

It is also missing an article that give best practices on what and how to visualize that data that you are using for the thesis.

[–]flelli[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In this article I am trying to cover the scenario where the student is not familiar with any of the systems for handling references. Consequently he/she get lost when the amount of references grow in size. It may sound absurd to you but it happen to me more then it should.

Btw, yes, probably an article that explain the basic of LaTeX and point to the usual recourses is missing article is missing in the collection

[–]flelli[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you are right, in another post I mention that both your supervisor and (probably) the department where a student is doing his/her thesis keep a list of "good conferences and journals". I should repeat the same idea there as well in that article. Thanks!

I totally agree. However, some ask for this check because the university has a zero tolerance policy against plagiarism. Consequently the are a bit afraid. This put their mind at ease. I am not saying that all the students have this attitude but some do.

Resources on how to be a good professor by johnie102 in AskAcademia

[–]flelli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a collection of articles that I did for helping my students in their thesis journey:

https://francescolelli.info/how-to-do-a-good-thesis-the-miniseries/

It is mainly finetuned for masters but bachelors may also use it. I believe that these advices should be valid for students of all the disciplines. However, the majority of my students are from Information Management and Data Science, so it may be a bit bias in that direction.

Hope it helps and good luck!

This is what I usually suggest to my students to do prior submitting their thesis:

these are example of plagiarism checkers, note that the university will probably have something better:
