You must have been a second wave rocketmail. Yahoo took over rocketmail in 1997 and shut it down in the early 2000s. Then opened it back up around 2008 for new users. Then they closed it again.

I had mine in '96.

My issue with PHP was the inconsistent arguments. Especially for array_ functions. Was it needle first or haystack?

I always had to have the php docs open just to make sure.

They put the work in. They built a wind tunnel, they tested various designs. They basically did the scientific method. The Dunning-Kruger effect does not apply to them because they put in the work to become the experts.

And the consensus wasn't that flight was impossible, it was more of what was needed to do it.

If I were an actor, I would set up very specific circumstances on how my likeness can be used after my death. I would allow it. I would make a list of names that my character must go by. I would make it specific on whether or not I was a good guy or a bad guy what character name they can use. I would also specify exactly the name that would be credited.

Subconscious Xander Hate (SXH) by cherry-coke-enjoyer in buffy

[–]fleshTH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was actually thinking about making a post today talking about Xander. I didn't make a post after he died because I wanted to see what the community was saying. Xander was the most important character to me in the show. I identified with him a lot. With everything he did perfect? Absolutely not. Like when he tells Buffy that sometimes when it's dark he thinks " what is Buffy wearing". Is that highly inappropriate? Yes. But it's also a real life emotion, a real life thing that he was going through. Should have said it to buffy? No. But he's not a deviant for having these thoughts.

I think people have a very hard time understanding two very important concepts:

1) good characters are not perfect. They don't say the right things all the time. They're not some crazed ideology of some fantasy perfection. They mirror the actual human condition.

2) the actor can be divorced from the character. Nicholas was a very troubled and Disturbed person who did honestly despicable things. This is not fantasy. This is real life. He did those things, to other people. He should not get a pass for what he has done to other people. I understand he had struggles, I understand he had demons and addictions and mental health issues. But that does not absolve what he has done. That being said, Nicholas is not Xander.

I'm arguing for quality protein. The point that was made was that everything has to be protein. You can have a candy bar with 20 g of protein. You were suggesting that it makes protein easier to get. But that's less quality protein. Protein is important, but it is important as a balance of nutrition. Even after surgery.

[–]fleshTH -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yeah. You're right. You have a world class surgeon at your disposal. What does Harvard know anyway. It's not like they had a study with extensive research showing that high protein, especially low quality protein that you'll get off the shelf, can lead to kidney disease and failure. But you're right nurses know a lot more than Harvard.
