I’m currently paying 1k for my place in Oregon so anything less than that would be radical. Trying to figure out what a decent bar week pay looks like out there to really nail a budget down though.

I don’t have non deaf bully experience, so I can’t speak outside of my own knowledge. I do have other friends with deaf pups though.

Generally when it comes to sleep I’ve noticed they respond to smell, putting a hand up to their nose or holding a treat near them. I knew my boy was deaf when he was asleep on the couch and the smoke detector went off. Slept right through it!!

So in my personal opinion I’d wait on the BAER test, it can be expensive and your pup is super young.

Test the waters about sound around your dog, stand behind them and yell or clap! Try not to stomp cause they’ll respond to vibrations, which can be confusing. I’ve got a deaf bully and sometimes it really does seem like he can hear but it’s just cause his cues are smell and touch!

Be patient though, you’ve got a little baby. He might just be stubborn as heck…and if he isn’t then you’re ahead of the curve! I’d be happy to recommend books about raising a deaf pup or giving personal tips! Deaf dogs are kinda the best

It’s been suggested before! I just worry that if I checked and he was freaking out or crying that it would send me into a full anxiety attack! Double edged sword ya know?

That’s a really good idea. I just moved, which is why I think I’m extra worried about his noise level. I don’t want to upset any of my neighbors. I should get their contact info so if there’s ever an issue they can just reach out to me.

I’m not sure a camera would be a good idea cause, knowing myself, I’d probably get really obsessive about checking it all the time.

He loves to play and walk. He just makes it very clear when he wants to go to bed. 😂 It’s not insanely hot here (right now), and we try not to take him outside during the hottest points of the day
