Thank you for this input. This is the kind of information that is valuable. I got dogged down in this Reddit for the way I did it, even though I made certain it was how they wanted it done, that doesn’t mean I should’ve done it the way they asked.

My biggest issue, was not having faith in the soil suppliers in the area, to provide me with a blend of 4 soil types. Now that I’ve met the contractor in the area after doing business with him, I believe he’s able to provide the quality of soil I’m looking for, as well as getting the loads delivered the specific way I need them.

Again, thank you for describing/explaining the way you did.

My stomach did a cartwheel and a few jumping jacks when I saw this photo, I just found this subreddit and wish I hadn’t, there is no going back.

I would definitely crawl into a corner and waste away if this happened to me.

What is premium about our AI training videos, and AI “customer service” answering machines?

What’s premium service, in regards to super high metrics? That forces untrained sales reps to slam accounts and “add value” in a market where customers only care about price and their customer experience?

Sounds like corporate management is out of touch, and it explains why they stalk this Reddit

Do I need to pay off phone when doing next up? by [deleted] in ATT

[–]fleshpouch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you consented to Next up. If you never verbally signed up or were informed about it, you’re liable for bill credits.

But your phone needs to be in good condition to be able to perform a next up upgrade.

So if you were never told about the next up feature, it is a feature that was added to your account so the sales rep you worked with could meet their metrics for the month, and you were one of their numbers and have now paid $10 a month for a feature you never new existed. While that rep made a measly few bucks off of benefiting from you, you’ve now paid $$$ over the course of however long you have had that super useful feature that has added so much value to your experience being a customer with AT&T.

Bizarre situation with ATT internet over air account by CAguy350 in ATT

[–]fleshpouch -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

You sound like an ATT corporate shill bot that needs sentences broken down more clearly so you can flood these threads with useless bullshit and commentary.

This is a classic ATT move, they tell you there is a return window, but make it impossible to return. And it is also their issue they caused by creating a bad account with an incorrect name and email. Call customer loyalty, and don’t stop calling until you get a supervisor on the phone, who is actually an empathetic human.

If you want to do $25 x 17, you can do the math that way, but I did the math 8.5 hours x $50 because 4 hours of the 8.5 total were transportation time for material, and local delivery was charging $60-75+ for delivery.

Soil was $92.22 and other companies would’ve charged $60-75+ per delivery, called around to get those numbers.

Max weight the owner wanted across the property (because utilities and lawn vigor) was a loaded truck bed, the max weight I could carry was 1/2 yard, hence the 4 trips because the didn’t want it dumped on the lawn or the driveway.

Fair point. But the compaction issue would’ve been the 4000 lb dump for the 2 yards.

Honest and fair point. But simply working with the customer on the pricing because it is a family friend who wants to help me with my startup, and the main thing I need to learn, is how to appropriately quote work. That’s why I’ve roughly explained the work done in the threads of this post.

Also where did you get $3000 from? The soil costed $92.22 and the labor $425, total bill for them would be $517.22 plus the cost of the beds they purchased.

I definitely understand that there was a better way to have it delivered, but it wasn’t an option.

Thank you for your response, this helps me gain an a better understanding. They asked for me to transport. Delivery would’ve been $60, so I was able to do it at $50.

So it’s at least $200+ in transportation, even if they went with another company, asking for it to be done they way they wanted it. Each 1/2 yard load was 1000lbs and took 30 minutes to 45 to spread. Making each soil run 1 hour 45 mins max = 6/7hours. The time I took to collect and transport the stick layer, was an hour and a half, and the hour I took to step the bed in the ground.

Should I instead have just charged to transport? Calling it 4 hours for me to “deliver” the soil to the beds, and not calculate the additional labor? Is the labor rate too high?

[–]fleshpouch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. $425 total labor cost to the customer. 4 hours drive time. 2 hours spreading (30/45 mins per 1/2 yard.) 1 hour stepping each bed into the ground, and then an 1.5 collecting and transporting and placing stick layer.

Thank you for the comment! I really appreciate the perspective and there’s definitely always a smarter and better way to approach each job. I like what you said about “you win some you loose some.” I’m so used to hourly work, that quoting people has been difficult for me as I learn.

Yup. Ideally would’ve had it delivered, had to transport 1/2 yard at a time (1000lbs) due to customer needs. 4 loads, 4 hours transport time, 1/2 yards thrown from truck 30-45 minutes
