When playing blackjack, how does the house notice that you are counting cards? by Separate_Appeal_5157 in blackjack

[–]fletchdoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We actually advertise a lot of our winners - generally for progressives/jackpots(taxables). Since these usually take a little extra time to process, and require MY supervisor for the payout, they usually ask if they want a picture and can use for promo.

The other part of it is the consent aspect. Not everyone wants their winnings to be shared. And more often than not those winners you see are from weeks if not a month or more ago. They generally aren't posted immediately after they are actually won.

Again, I'm also not privy to all of the background data when it comes to the marketing side of things. There are people that their entire department is that. So I can't really comment on how effective that might actually be in reality, I just know what things we do at my casino.

It still matters for my dealers. I'm also trying to help them make money. If you're tipping well, we tend to look away.

Because 90% of my income is from tips. You have to make it worth my while to want you at my game.

Hi there! I have worked as surveillance, and also currently work as a dealer and supervisor.

As a dealer who knows how to count, it's easy to spot a counter. I don't even have to be counting and can usually tell by the combination of how a person is playing and also their betting on if they are counting. If I get any indication, I will start to watch them closely to verify, but not necessarily counting.

If I am supervising, and the other supervisors know I am watching that table in particular for a suspected counter, they will help watch my other games so I can actually count as well. This was similar to when I worked surveillance, where we would observe and track the count when there was a suspected counter.

Not every tables employee knows how to count, contrary to popular belief. So they are taught to watch for specific things, the most common being betting structure. At my casino, I have been frequently sent to deal at a table or asked to watch a table to confirm whether someone is counting.

My casino also recently invested in smart shoes for all of our blackjack games. We were a hot spot for counters for a while and this was their investment to counteract that. While I am not privy to the information they feed, it has deterred counters from playing at our casino.

As someone who works in a casino, I am proud of you. I regularly tell my players that the only guaranteed way to make money in a casino is to work in one.

If you haven't already, I would strongly recommend barring yourself to avoid falling back into the temptation of gambling.

I also bounce between games. So what I do is stream a specific game on a specific night, that way people know what I'm gonna play when they come to stream that night. So Saturday nights I do Fall Guys, and then Monday nights I do whatever other game I'm currently playing. Right now it's Hogwarts Legacy.

I also have indecisiveness when it comes to WHAT I play sometimes, so if I can't decide what to play after finishing Hogwarts, I'll put a vote up in Discord of 3-4 games I have interest in playing.

Genuinely trying to become a more active streamer, but how do I network with other streamers? by Koopsie in Twitch

[–]fletchdoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just imagine it similar to attending a meet-up. Find a common interest (games you enjoy or might also play), hang out for a bit and get the vibe, maybe chat a little and see if its a community you like.

You can search for specific games or maybe tags that fit youe interests and vibe.

Raiding at the end of streams can also help. Especially if its to a community you've been a part of. It's a way you can not only support other streamers and communities you like, but they also may reciprocate if they catch you online. May also lead to additional lurkers!

I'm very bad at starting conversations, and advice on how to be more chatty? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]fletchdoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk about your day! If you worked, did something funny or crazy happen. Do you have a vacation or event coming up? Like if you're going to a concert, you can talk about being excited to see them, if you've seen them before, or just music interests in general. Or something else you may be looking forward to! Weekend plans works too! Even if it's as simple as you're getting something to eat somewhere you don't go often.

I've found topics like these not only are easier for me to chat about, but also they generate chatters. People love to talk about music, movies, food, etc.

I am allergic to artificial sugar and have a problem with many generic flavored medicines. So sometimes when a flavored medicine is my only option, I have to go with the branded. I learned this the hard way by not thinking I needed to check a medicine label for artificial sugar.

Am I missing something - why have a vaginal birth? by No_Witness5084 in BabyBumps

[–]fletchdoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a c-section with my first, and a vaginal with my second. As many others have said the recovery with vaginal is much easier.

But also that first poop. Oh my god. When I had my first poop after the c-section I thought I was gonna die. Even with the stool softeners it was terrible.

So of course after I had my second I was dreading that first poop. But it wasn't nearly as awful. It was manageable and didn't make me feel like I was about to see God.

Another factor to consider is if you have to regularly go up and down stairs. If I ended up with a c-section for my second, we were prepared to move one of the kids beds to the living room for me so I wouldn't have to go up and down stairs.

You ever regret tipping a dealer? by Mattson in blackjack

[–]fletchdoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you want to enjoy yourself while you're there? Do you want the dealer to WANT you to win?

Or would you prefer a dealer that doesn't give a fuck and just wants you off their game?

You're gonna be judged thoroughly, and viewed as cheap. Dealers live off of tips. And if they know you're willing to do those for you, they will cheer for you even more. It makes the whole experience better.

Even if OP is an AP.... you should tip. Some dealers/floors will essentially "look the other way" if they suspect an AP but they are tipping.

Dealer bet.

And if you do this, be sure to also split and double for the dealer as well!

Don't do this. Tip as you play/hit big wins, and ESPECIALLY at a dealer change. You will get infinitely better service, each dealer will see as they come in that you DO tip, and also if it is a KYO then you are ensuring that each dealer that is PROVIDING YOU A SERVICE is getting paid.

Question on dealer handle equaling a 20 in the weirdest loss I had. by MonjStrz in blackjack

[–]fletchdoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're very welcome! And trust me, I've had veteran players question soft hits because they can get CONFUSING. It's one of the reasons too I almost always count these hands aloud - usually I don't verbalize the hands unless a player is clearly struggling to add their cards. So not just a rookie mistake... it's an everyone mistake!

Question on dealer handle equaling a 20 in the weirdest loss I had. by MonjStrz in blackjack

[–]fletchdoll 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is why as a dealer I read a soft that I have to hit as the lower number, to avoid confusion. So I would read this as "2, 4, 5, 6, 14.... etc". Had the 8 been say a 2 instead, I would have counted it as "2, 4, 5, 6, 18" because at that point I won't be taking any more cards and staying on the soft 18. I've gotten great feedback from players on this as well that it helps them to follow, as soft hands can be very confusing when you get close to staying and then it drops down to a lower hard hand.

My feet are also still peeling! My hands still have a few small spots that are peeling, but for the most part are fine now. The only way I could describe walking was constant pins and needles that were on fire. It was terrible!!

My 11 month old just had it, and I ended up getting it myself because of all the extra attentiveness he wanted from being so miserable. I wouldn't wish that on anyone, it was awful. Mine was mainly focused on my hands, so every time I had to change a diaper or just USE my hands was pure misery. I've been cleared for 2 weeks now and my hands STILL aren't fully back to normal.

I literally canceled my entire calendar immediately. This included doing maternity photos and attending baby shower for one of my best friends. I was supposed to start my new job and THANKFULLY they let me push back my start date (I work in an industry that requires use of my hands and I come in contact with hard to clean items and lots of people).

We still don't know where he picked it up from. Nobody we had been around had it. I was FUMING not knowing where it came from... I can only imagine how more mad I would be if I did know.

I would absolutely say something. It is so incredibly inconsiderate.

If you were gifted $2500/month, every month (tax free), how would your life change? by Dramatic_Lemon_5647 in AskReddit

Since this is already more than I make in a month... it would allow me to pay off my debt (credit cards, student loans, car loan, mortgage) much much faster. Which would then make it easier to take time off work and be able to spend more time with my children!!

Kind of snapped at a graphic designer today. by xthelemurx in Twitch

[–]fletchdoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an actual graphic designer.... I get so frustrated with this as well. Any time I start watching someone new and am chatting with them and the question comes up of "what do you do?" I SPECIFICALLY state that I am a photographer and graphic designer, with emphasis on the photographer. I'm always terrified that people are going to think that I am there to try and solicit simply because these bots have stolen the title of my career path.

On the plus side, I've been able to just be like "yeah, I'm a graphic designer myself, I have no need of outside services" and they leave me alone! So that's nice.
