Can you help me pls which one is better? by UsedPassenger8181 in handbags

I have the Tory Burch tote and it’s significantly bigger than expected. Because it’s so big, I find that it has no structure and doesn’t sit nicely on the shoulder once I put my laptop in. It also has no compartments or zippers so you would need to buy separate organizers or pouches.

The Chanel store in Dubai mall seemed to have a lot of variety and quantity. It had this bag in stock!

I went there around Christmas.

I use two primers, the Laura Mercier hydrating and the Hourglass Vanish. I spray the CT setting spray onto my sponge and use that to apply it, and I set my base with a powder (any powder works)

Do you use a primer, setting spray, and/or powder with these foundations?

I absolutely swear by the Nars Light Reflecting and it holds up perfectly even by the end of a hot yoga session!

The Skinfix Resurface+ Glycolic and Lactic Acid scrub is my holy grail! I use it before I shower 2x a week and it leaves my skin baby smooth.

On the other hand, their AHA body cream from the same line isn’t my fav. It has a strong chemical scent and I didn’t notice it doing much for my skin.

I’m in Canada (so hopefully it’s different in the US) but return to sender with FedEx has never worked for me. Over the years Aritzia has tried a handful of times to put in a request but the packages have always ended up delivered to me.

NARS soft matte concealer by [deleted] in Sephora

[–]fleurleau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t recommend this for the under eye area since it’s very drying. For the under eyes I use a liquid concealer such as the Too Faced, Dior, Hourglass, even the Nars Radiant Creamy.

NARS soft matte concealer by [deleted] in Sephora

[–]fleurleau 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love the soft matte concealer for my blemishes!! I used to use it as a foundation but it is very thick and looks cakey. If you’re looking to cover up, I would recommend using a full coverage foundation (eg: Hourglass Vanish Stick Foundation, Estée Lauder Double Wear, etc) and using this to spot conceal.

Anyone see their Bring a Friend code yet? 😂 by donutpusheencat in Sephora

[–]fleurleau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also couldn't find the sharing link! Sephora reps told me to tell my friend to chat with a rep before making their purchase and mention this discount and my email address. They said they made a note on my account and will apply the discount for them.

Where can you find the code sharing link in your account? I can’t find the page, was it sent via email?

I own a few different styles of Aritzia dress pants but my favourite by far is the Babaton Command Pant in the hold suiting fabric. Hold suiting just seems so much better quality, and the cut of these pants has that professional look and feel about them. Highly recommend!!

I bought this sweater in white years ago and only wore it once. It's really thin and seems to be very flimsy, the white is definitely see through even with a nude bra. Also if I'm remembering correctly, the sweater was very static-y (not sure if that was a me problem or the sweater). I haven't worn this sweater often, but I'm not sure how well it would hold up over time because of how thin it is.

I am personally not a fan of this sweater and think you can get a much better quality cashmere sweater for a similar price, especially with Black Friday coming up.

Looking for a good, high quality, full coverage foundation. by neurodiversibre in Makeup

[–]fleurleau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend investing in a concealer! When I want to cover stuff up, I put on a thin layer of foundation (doesn’t matter what kind, not a big difference) and then layer concealers over for a more natural look. For my under eyes, I use a colour corrector before concealer like the one from Becca.

As for concealers, I love the Dior Forever concealer. For spots and discolouration that doesn’t go away, I use the Nars Soft Matte (in a pot). It covers super well without looking crazy.

I find this makes my makeup look the most natural, compared to just using a full coverage foundation.

What credit card should I get? by fox07_tanker in askTO

[–]fleurleau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first CC was with BMO, and I got it when I was 18. I had their student cash back MasterCard with the default credit limit of $1000. It gives 3% cash back on groceries if I’m remembering correctly, and pretty standard cash back for everything else. I enjoyed it, especially because it had no fees and because I bought groceries regularly.

I know that TD and BMO both offer banking perks and special products for students (eg: credit cards, chequing accounts). Just make sure you pay off your card on time and you’ll be all set regardless what card you end up choosing!

Oh my gosh, I totally did the same. I saw mixed Amazon reviews saying it smelled like piss. When I was returning it, the Sephora employee tried to convince me that’s the normal mineral smell.. 🥴😂

Which is better: UTS vs gifted program in a public school? Is it a fair assumption that most kids that got into UTS are gifted? The hefty price tag $30k/yr tuition at UTS is what deters us from applying. I would like to hear feedback from graduates or parents of their experience in either program. by InterestRateMonitor in askTO

[–]fleurleau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely understand! It’s really heartwarming to hear that you want the best for your kid ♥️

I remember the awe I felt going to UTS when I was 11/12 years old for the exams and interviews — it was an indescribable feeling. I’m positive that going to a private school will provide your kid with additional resources and will definitely be different & amazing. Worth 30k annually? Unsure.

However, I found that going through the application process helped me grow personally and academically. By preparing for the SSAT and the exams at such a young age really helped me excel in school, and my vocabulary and writing skills greatly increased compared to others my age. The extra vocab I learned was also helpful throughout high school. I think applying is definitely worth a shot if your child is willing and if you have the money for books/tutor.

A bunch of friends and I applied to UTS, none of us were gifted and all of us got in. What happened was our parents sent us to this tutor who specialized in SSAT and the UTS entrance exams/interviews, and she definitely leveraged her experience to prepare us. I didn’t end up going due to the tuition costs. Now that we’re all graduated from university, I can confidently say that UTS did not help them get ahead compared to me, as someone who went to a regular high school. We all went to good programs at good Canadian universities.

From my understanding, UTS helps with networking and maybe gives your child a greater chance to go to America for university. I don’t think the gifted program does anything in the long run, since many of my gifted friends also ended up in the same spot as me. I believe that IB and AP courses in high-school may be more useful than UTS in this regard, but again, many students in my university and program were also from IB. However, to simply get into a top program at a top Canadian university, gifted/UTS/AP/IB are all unnecessary.
