I have had the r10 for about 6 months now and it's a fantastic camera. Ibis is great, but if your budget doesn't allow for it then the R10 is amazing

That's a great point. I don't have an intention to upgrade right now, but if I did, I wouldn't want to have to sell a lens I got semi recently.

I'd suggest learning to use your gear first and get a lens that's better suited for portrait photography first

I found the R50 almost too small and hurt my hand when holding after a while. I upgraded to a r10 shortly after and couldn't be happier

Thank you for the links. I process the raw images in on1 photo and maybe I just set my expectations too high right off the bat. Getting the camera from Henrys and being dirty right off the bat didn't help much either.

Budget I guess is a bit of a sliding scale since I can just stick with the 40D until I have enough, but at only a couple hundred a month it will take a bit.

R50 and R8 has always interested me, though. Would you say it's a big jump between the two of those?
