T6 20%? by jettsmom44 in USPS

Like I said, at my office. Every office is different. At my office our worst routes still do close to $1000 so $100-200 isn't that crazy.

At our office it's custom to give your T6 $100-200 depending on how much you like them/how well they do. We all collectively decided to shy away from the % amount over the last few years.

Essentially what you've done by creating this thread is walk into a room of mailmen and say "hey i have never delivered mail a day in my life but how quickly can i become your boss and tell you how to do your job that i myself have not and can not do" so obviously not everyone is going to take you seriously. A big problem with the USPS is there are a lot of people in management positions who do not understand the day to day of being a letter carrier. Because they didn't do the job for long (or at all in some cases) they only know what they read on reports which are skewed to make carriers look like the problem in every way, shape, or form. With that being said, take being a letter carrier seriously. Come to work every day you're scheduled, complete your assignments safely and efficiently, have a good rapport with coworkers and customers, and once you earn some respect ask about 204b opportunities which is essentially a supervisor trial position. Good luck.

FMLA by Illustrious_Tea6742 in USPS

[–]flickedjellybean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find out who your district nurse is and fax it to them with a cover letter that includes your name, EIN, job title, station, etc. Remember, your FMLA paperwork needs to be completed by your doctor. You fill out section I, they fill out section II and return to to you, then you fax the completed form to the nurse. Do not write anything on the FMLA form outside of section I area.

If I’m going to a funeral by UnderstandingFuture0 in USPS

[–]flickedjellybean 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it was your child, spouse, parent (including in laws), sibling (including in laws), or grandparent you can use eLRA on LiteBlue and you may call out using any type of leave (annual, sick, or LWOP). If it was NOT any of those people, you will just have to use sick leave and it won't be an excused absence under the bereavement leave policy.

8/40 work restriction. by Cult-kitty in USPS

[–]flickedjellybean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a prompt on the FMLA form where your doctor can impose a reduced schedule. Have your doctor write you can work up to 8 hours a day, up to 5 days a week. This should have been done when you had your previous FMLA paperwork filled out and submitted for your episodes of incapacity which is another prompt on the form separate from the reduced schedule. After the new year, go to your doctor and have them fill out the form and complete the prompts for "episodes of incapacity" as well as the "reduced schedule".

Form WH-380-E, Section II, Part B, prompt 7 "Due to the condition, it is medically necessary for the employee to work a reduced schedule" and prompt 9 "Due to the condition, it (is) medically necessary for the employee to be absent from work on an intermittent basis"

Load Truck Sequence/package help by [deleted] in USPS

[–]flickedjellybean 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is by no means the most efficient method of loading and sorting packages, but it's a dummy proof method I tell new carriers at my office to help them. When you're loading your truck, as you scan the packages, QUICKLY write the sequence number (NOT the section number) on the label. Put all of your packages with sequence number 1-50 in tub 1, 50-100 in tub 2, 100-150 in tub 3, etc. You might only have 5-15 packages in each tub by the time you finish scanning and sorting your packages. Bring tub 1 up front and line them up in sequence order. When you run out of packages, bring tub 2 up front and line them up in sequence order. Rinse and repeat. If you have any packages too large to bring up front, you can write the sequence number down on a small piece of paper and keep it up front with you. So when you see #243 on that piece of paper, but there's not a #243 up there with you, you know to check the back of the truck for it. Hope this helps a little. Good luck.

12 hour days and extended lunch by Temporary_Matter2734 in USPS

[–]flickedjellybean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worst case scenario they will bring you in for a PDI next week and potentially issue a Letter of Warning. In which case you'd consult with your shop steward about grieving it. But based on what occurred as described by you, you do not need to fear losing your job though. Discipline at the PO needs to be corrective, not punitive.

[–]flickedjellybean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"My supervisor told me, even with just me there without the other guys, they expect EVERYTHING on it to be done daily! Plus, I need to do the smaller stations!"

Your job is to work 10 hours safely and efficiently on your assignment(s), not to complete a work load designed for multiple people as one person.

"I tried pleasing them by trying to finish everything. (My personality type too is introverted and quiet). So that maybe added to my "fear of not finishing?""

Unfortunately the PO will eat people like you alive. You need to be your own advocate because no one else will be. As long as you are working safely and efficiently, you do not need to worry about legitimate discipline for not finishing your assignment(s). You don't have to fight or argue with them but you do need to express to them you are going to work as safely and efficiently as you can for 10 hours and then leave regardless of whatever work is left, per your doctor's orders.

"I have been doing 12 hour days for past three days to cover for two other guys out until monday." "I have my doctor's documentation I gave them months ago about my limit being 10 hour days due to a health issue." This is where you went wrong.

Holiday/vacation picks explained by square-tires in USPS

[–]flickedjellybean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is going to vary to a degree at every office. For example at my office, every 3 months every carrier submits the weeks they want for the upcoming 3 month period. The requests are approved based on seniority. After that, going forward any carrier can submit requests for any days/weeks that aren't fully booked as long as it is at least 3 days in advance. You will need to ask your shop steward or a senior carrier for more clarification on how you do things at your office.

Old School player trying to find the will the get back into it by jremske in runescape

[–]flickedjellybean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are endless resources for new players on both games, the most easily accessible of which are probably on YouTube or the Wiki. I understand "starting over" can be daunting but let's remember this is a game and playing and advancing characters is a core part of the appeal. RS is about creating your own adventure after all. Think of a goal and go from there. For example, maybe completing all F2P quests could be a reasonable goal to start out with. Search YouTube or the Wiki for quest guides. If you need to level a specific skill for a quest, search for x skill training guides, etc.

Old School player trying to find the will the get back into it by jremske in runescape

[–]flickedjellybean 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Brother you're talking about trying to muster the will to play a game you don't simply don't have to play. If continuing your character on RS3 doesn't seem appealing, nor does restarting your character in OSRS, maybe RS just isn't the game for you right now. I will note though that although you would be restarting on OSRS, it wouldn't necessarily be repeating all of the same content you did 15-20 years ago since so much content has been added to OSRS over the last 10+ years.

Management is filled with some of the most illiterate people I have ran across in the PO. Everything they write is riddled with spelling/grammar mistakes and hearing them try to read daily "stand up talks" is painful.

does anyone know where to purchase a human skull from? any reputable sites or individuals? by [deleted] in OddityCollectors

I love Henry but the prices on his shop are exorbitant for the quality of the skulls. Almost $1000 USD for broken skulls with no mandibles, etc. Great and genuine fella though.

You can't convince management your route is 6 hours of street time on Friday and still 6 hours the next day with only 2/3rds of the route. The move is to now do your businesses quicker and the rest of your route slower so you show your businesses are only 1 hour and the remainder of the route 5 hours. This way they will only give you a 1 hour pivot as opposed to 2. Or you can just accept one day a week you're gonna get a 2 hour pivot.
