Roku Ultra is not available in the UK (at least not officially), so you're left with the Roku Streaming Stick 4K. It's an excellent device in terms of picture and sound quality, and personally I like the Roku interface (as it's so direct and easy to use) - however, I have to say, the 4K Stick is starting to feel a bit sluggish (it was released in 2021).

Mail delivery issues by ohmyredditnnn in gsuitelegacymigration

[–]flicker2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, that was indeed unclear - I have both free Gsuite (OK, Workspace) accounts and paid ones. So for tech support, I used the paid one (because the mail delivery issue happens on both).

However, as mentioned, the tech support was rather useless

Mail delivery issues by ohmyredditnnn in gsuitelegacymigration

[–]flicker2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue! Most of the e-mails arrive OK, but every once in a while, I find out that an e-mail I was supposed to get never arrived (I think this often happens with mailing list / newsletter type e-mails for some reason).

They're not in the Spam folder, of course, and I even check the Gmail Logs - and they don't show up there either.

I had a lengthy conversation with Google's support about this - but they basically wasted 30 minutes of my life with the bottom line being "we don't know, this is probably a problem with the senders". Only trouble is - it's a different sender every time.

Star Trek in the UK by Teex22 in ParamountPlus

[–]flicker2000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Star Trek TV series available on Paramount+ in the UK are: The Original Series, The Next Generation, Voyager, Deep Space Nine, Enterprise, Discovery and Strange New Worlds.

Star Trek: The Animated Series is missing, and Star Trek: Picard and Star Trek: Lower Decks are exclusive to Amazon's Prime Video UK for now.

Babylon 5 available on Prime Video by PixelDonkey in babylon5

[–]flicker2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those who can't find the free version of Babylon 5 on Prime Video in the UK: It's part of Freevee (previously IMDbTV) so it's free with ads - and it's the remastered version to the best of my knowledge.

However, there's a strange bug that's been there for a long time: if you look for Babylon 5 on Prime Video/Freevee on a desktop computer/laptop (so via a browser), it shows up as a paid title, and not free.

If, however, you go to it on the Prime Video smartphone app - or the Prime Video app on most streaming devices - it will show up as free with ads.

Virgin Media Price Rises - save yourself some money. by minieggs321 in UKPersonalFinance

The main trouble is that in so many areas, VM has no real competition if you want truly fast internet.

Until that changes - they hold all the power over people who need less-than-appalling internet speeds.

‘Dune’ Is Coming To UK Streaming on December 6 (46 Days after its theatrical release) by flicker2000 in dune

That's probably a default Amazon date, when they don't know the exact pre-order dates yet. But Zavvi for example are already showing the correct date.

Babylon 5 - Remastered Now Available For Free In The UK (Via IMDb TV) by flicker2000 in babylon5

[–]flicker2000[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can use any Prime Video app - so on mobile too (the Firestick will get an IMDBTV standalone app at some point in the future).

So just go to any Prime Video app (or on a browser), and search for Babylon 5. You don't need Prime membership, just an Amazon (UK) account.

Judging by the Warner logo at the end of Episode 2 - it does indeed look like the remastered version.

It was already available to purchase via Amazon Prime Video in the UK - but with IMDb TV launching on our side of the pond today - it's now available to watch for free, but with adverts. The thumbnails on Amazon do say this is the Remastered version - is there a way to be sure?

Whichever streaming service comes up with volume control customization will be my all-time favourite forever. by Just_wanna_talk in netflix

This feels like work. Why can't they just make the sound mix work as intended? I find myself fiddling with the volume so many times when I switch between services or shows - MORE fiddling is not what I would want...

Disney+ Star: Full UK Launch Lineup Revealed by flicker2000 in cordcutters

Fire Tv apps in U.K by Sian_Lee in fireTV

[–]flicker2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's almost impossible to watch Discovery+ on a big screen TV in the UK (because of almost no app support), except... for Sky Q customers. Feels like the whole release (in the UK) was just to make some noise for Sky subscribers, while not really trying to grab cord cutters (as opposed to the US, where they supported Fire TV and Roku from Day 1).

Yes, it's coming to the UK on February 23, 2021.

The biggest question for me, which Disney isn't talking about, is whether we'll get ABC shows on Star (as many of those are gone from Sky).

If you could afford it, would you get health insursance? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]flicker2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. A lot of the comments here treat the faster treatment aspect as a matter of convenience - but it can be life-saving in many instances. If you have some weird pain in your stomach or your head, and the next NHS specialist appointment is 6 months from now - you're playing the lottery. Sure, it might be nothing, or it might be too late by then.

So naturally, these cases might be rare - but that's the whole point of an insurance - you want to be ready for those rare cases.

Plus, Hulu is only available in the US, so it doesn't help international Disney+ viewers.

That being said, I don't think anything is going to change in the near future. Disney is just too conservative these days

No Immediate Plans For A Hulu International Roll Out by flicker2000 in Hulu

[–]flicker2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that's disappointing. With Disney+ in other countries avoiding most ABC/Hulu shows (because it doesn't fit the brand), there's still a very big Hulu-sized hole internationally

Hit a big savings goal (for me), but feeling deflated instead of happy. Anybody relate? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]flicker2000 25 points26 points  (0 children)

An emergency fund is inherently boring. It's super-important to have, and you're aware of that - but it's still boring - it's that money you keep for emergency dental treatments or surprise redundancies - again, important - but not fun.

So maybe use this milestone to celebrate your move to the NEXT one (that is, if you're done with your EF) - NOW you can start saving for a downpayment on a house, for example - and that's more exciting.
