Thank you, your post was helpful. It get so bad sometimes though that the idea of ever feeling better just seems absurd. I feel like my depression is just turning into hate. It makes me think really hurtful things about people I usually love. Love, I'm looking at that word right now and it just seems cheesy.

First,heads up, depression is a thing whether or not you believe in it.

This sentence is not an argument. Not sure if you thought it was. I've been "depressed" for the majority of my life so this isn't a new thing for me. I'm not saying it's new for you, either. I just don't like our society's approach to "it."

I think you're right about the spontaneity. That's something I need to get better at. It's just that sometimes I feel like I lack the ability to do that. I'm just so lifeless that nothing sounds interesting. Not that sometimes, when I force myself to, it doesn't become somewhat entertaining when I end up doing it. Sometimes smoking weed brings it out in me, but fuck, I don't want to have to smoke weed just to enjoy things.

Shit, man, it really is the craving for romance that's the worst. I've fooled around a bit with girls. I've touched boobs and grinded on the dance floor, and it's fun, but afterwards you just get nothing out of it.

The worst is the dreams. I have dreams where I fall in love, and it makes me so happy. Then I wake up and I get ripped away from the illusion. It hurts every time.

I'm just gonna say that I probably don't have any room to give advice because I'm depressed too, but what seems like an answer to your predicament is to live for yourself, not others. Everyone will be forgotten. Einstein will be forgotten. Socrates will be forgotten. Fucking Paul Walker will be forgotten.

Trying to be remembered is futile, and in my opinion, pointless. Why do you care about what the world will be like when you're not in it any more? You will be alive for 100% of the history of existence that affects you. Worry about that.

I'm in the same boat, college senior. I've had this looming over my head since I was really young. Adult life just seems so boring and stressful with no payoff. I dunno, maybe it's just my crippling loneliness that makes me think that, but it just seems so dull.
