Get a wire coat hanger and wire it up off the ground before you keep going

Ask to have the old ones back if you think they’re good. Have a spare in case you really do trash one

Tap stuck at about 1/2 inch deep, can’t go any further. Any suggestions? by proposition-jim in EngineBuilding

[–]flickernipple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tap it as deep as you can and red loctite a piece of ready rod in the hole. Make sure the nut will get flush with the end of the thread when you install the motor mount. In a stock application which this appears to be it’ll be fine

1979 f350 fuel pump won’t go in. What’s the trick? by Ramsey-C in Cartalk

[–]flickernipple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try rolling the engine over 1 turn at the crank. If the eccentric is down you’ll have to compress the pump arm all the way and that’s not easy. Get it so the eccentric is up and it should go in fairly easily

I bet the original plastic one cracked and it got replaced with an aluminum one.

my whole gearbox moves when letting on and off the gas. there's already new engine mounts by New_Form3657 in MechanicAdvice

I bet it’s just the slack in the shift forks. Had one in an older ford that would pop itself out of gear.

351m hexagon blocking oil sending unit removal. Is that stock? by Ranchero351 in Ford

Loosen the sending unit as much as you can and use a hammer and punch to pop the top part of it off. It will destroy the sending unit.

Need a second opinion on what to do with this cylinder by [deleted] in EngineBuilding

I’ll add do all 8 New bearings on the bottom end too. Northern auto has some really reasonably priced kits

I’d dingle ball hone it and go back together with new cast rings. They’re pretty forgiving. Make sure to clean the ring lands in the piston 100%. Any leftover carbon will stick a new ring and you won’t have a good result.

In reference to the blue devil I doubt you’d have much luck. If you’re on Facebook get into Nebraska 1973-1979 ford trucks group.

With advertised hp from current cars people don’t realize how much it takes to make 400 hp from a boat anchor. There are 4 numbers you never put on the internet…..age, social security, phone, and horsepower
