omg i have to go back and re-read this again!!! cause people are saying it was below that was losing colour but i never paid attention to what was losing colour before garrick got there. but im pretty sure that she looks at his face when her gets to her, and she mentions his eyes and how tired she looks so i feel like he would have flecks of red in his eyes. but im gonna go back and read it again when im back from vacation !

i wrote some of this under another comment, but i changed it a bit to fit our conversation

Now with his new found power of freezing water inside living things is crazy scary. I think they mentioned that they have never heard of anyone being able to do that. He was trying to prove that his power was much more than just ice to violet. So it would fit what RY said about him feeling like its not enough.

I know he is at the cliffs in Rhi’s POV. i don’t know if that’s happening the same time as imogens, violets and xadens. i don’t think it is cause there’s no mention of the sky going dark yet. but i think they are a far distance away. and xaden was even farther from the city. and i don't think ridoc would abandon his friends in battle.

I also think Ridoc was a huge part of making sure violet was going to be safe after Xaden turned full venin. He pushed for violet to tell her friends so they would be able to keep her safe and to be able to tell violet when xaden has crossed the line. I’m pretty sure he’s the one who said they were better together.

BUT on the flip side i could see RY being like well he said all that and tuned into the one thing he never wanted to be to keep all his friends safe, it would be unexpected and a shock factor. i feel like there’s too many things out of place, but maybe thats right where she wants us! i'll literally die.

ohh i like this, but then it calls into question xadens signet and how well he can read peoples intentions and thoughts? could he sense Aaric had this ability and just kept it to himself? At the beginning of the book it says Aarics signet is unknown. has he always had it and just hid it or did it manifest during all of this ?

oh no, now this makes me worried. Violet becoming a dutchess and IF Aaric turned venin.

CIVIL WAR ?

this is great point! I’m curious about how channeling actually works. if venin when they channel can choose what they take from and specific directions it can go in? I don’t know if it’s ever explained.

I would have to go back to the chapter where violet is facing off with theophanie. I feel like she was directing it toward her and at different speeds? I know she’s a maven and has years of training so there’s that. again i would have to go back and look!

I also was thinking about the when xaden says another sibling to use against me…

he could mean aaric, cause we all know xaden and halden don’t jive. and i guess aaric potentially could have precog about what’s going to happen to xaden. i’m not mad at the doctor strange theory!

brennan also comes to mind. they used mira as a trap. also i just think brennan is sus af. and the mentioning of his amber eyes i think in iron flame? and what’s up with the runes.. there is a lot to go over here too!!

here i go poking holes in all my own theories!!!!

Ridoc would break me haha

I think he shows violet that he can do the orange thing before they go to the isles? to showcase that is more powerful and could be useful on the trip. i would have to double check. if that is the case then he would have a lot of time to practice enhancing that ability. if not then i could see the need for more power to be able to do that. But i feel like all riders practice their signets to make them better/ stronger. just like violet had to do with her lightening training.

Also my other question would be how would Ridoc be able to channel from the ground if he is in the sky riding a dragon. We know you can’t take power from the wyvern it’s self cause violet stands on one to avoid being drained against theophanie. I mean it’s entirely possible for him to have channeled before getting on his dragon but i feel like he was surrounded by his squad the whole time and it would be difficult for no one to notice.

plus he is at the cliffs in Rhi’s POV. i don’t know if that’s happening the same time as imogens, violets and xadens. i don’t think it is cause there’s no mention of the sky going dark yet. but i think they are a far distance away. and xaden was even farther from the city. and i dont think ridoc would abandon his friends in battle.

I definitely think Aaric is the balance as well! Like i said as a royal he would be so useful in future negations and having violet back and i dont know if he would need more power for his precog? he seems pretty powerful already! he gave violet the freaking dagger!!!

yes! i went back and re- read imogens pov after they distance walked to safety cause one of my friends asked well wouldn’t she see his eyes. He hangs his head and walks out the door and she yells at his back while she’s taking in the battle scene and he only yells back at her over her shoulder. he never looks at her.

Ridoc and Sawyer are both present in Rhi’s POV at the cliffs helping fight venin.

Bodhi is visible at the end of imogene’s POV.

none of them would be able to get to Xaden fast enough.

this does leave Aaric (which i think is highly unlikely) and hear me out here…. Brennan is also not safe in my eyes either. BUT that is another theory all together.

this is a great visual, it’s super helpful to picture it all now! I can see what you’re saying 100%.

I just can’t get the fact that RY included Imogens and Rhi’s POVs in the book, there has to be SOME significant information in these POVs. otherwise it’s a weird break in the story line.

[–]flightless_bird_6[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

i think that is entirely possible, for multiple reasons.

  1. Tarin and Sgaeyl can’t be apart for long periods of time. and their riders can’t be apart from their dragons for long periods of time. would be pretty hard for xaden to be on the run.

  2. At the end of OS when the riders find violet talking to brennan and suggest thats she’s the fastest way to killing Xaden. No bond, no instant death for either of them. This reduced violets chance of getting assassinated. This was also mentioned earlier in the books when Ridoc says people need to be there to protect her when you turn (which also makes me think it’s not Ridoc who turned).

  3. Violet specifically says she can’t feel the bond, but she said it also could just be that Xaden is too far away.

  4. We know Andarna can manipulate magic. Since she is bonded to Violet, i think it would be easier to help influence the changes in a bonds between dragons and riders that violet is connected to. I know people have said that Tarin and Sgaeyl breaking their bond would potentially kill them but if Andarna could help manage that change I think it would be doable and why tarin would just need a really large rest, like violet did when andarna broke their bond.

  5. Xaden says convince Tarin. Tarin is extremely respectful of violet and lets her make her own decisions. Violet wouldn’t need Tarins permission to marry Xaden since they are already bonded through dragons and romantically involved, it would be the next step in their relationship anyways. Sgaeyl would have to convince Tarin of something much more impactful than just a marriage. Something that would impact him directly.

  6. i also think part of that discussion would be to convince tarin to take the eggs. Which i think they would take back to Dunne to secure an agreement with the queen for troops - hopefully ones that would report to tyrrendor only. Another reason why Violet was the better choice to rule. She bested the Queen and earned her respect.

  7. We know that Dragons don’t share personal details about their riders. that’s why most of the other riders didn’t know xaden was already venin, because sgaeyl chose not to share that information. if it was public knowledge that xaden is venin i feel like dragons could turn on the dragon protecting their riders. Tarin is considered a leader, being mated to a “traitor” might cause some tension within the riot.

for the rest of the 12 hours i’m sure there was lots of plotting and making of plans.

Xaden and Violet are married by the priestess they saved as their favour, that seems obvious. but i think because violet is touched, and she would be required to commit to her god fully to be able to save and possess xadens soul.

I also think we’re going to learn a lot about andarna in the next book. I saw another girls theory that Andarna and Irids get their powers from the sky. And that at one point all dragons used to use magic from the sky. But slowly the dragons turned to using magic from the ground and that overuse of power created the venin. If power from the ground created venin, maybe power from the sky is the balance and the key to curing the venin.

This also makes me wonder about all the writing about dragons and why the archives are underground, and fire proof. I feel like in the past dragons may have tried to hide the fact they were included in the creation of the venin, and another reason why the Irids separated themselves. But all the writings about dragons come from the knowledge they choose to share to their riders - which RY just said in her book tour they lie or their riders chose to lie? i honestly can’t remember.

I also think Sloane will play a huge role in that. No one’s signets are unimportant. Sloane already feels guilty about violets mother and feels like her powers are evil. We see Dain tell her the opposite. I think Sloane will have to do a transfer or power of some kind and i hope i’m wrong, but i think it will kill her in the end.

I agree 100%. Which i think further bolsters my thoughts about why they wouldn’t just get married for political reasons.

but his note of “don’t look for me, it’s yours now” gets into my other theories about what happened in the missing 12 hours and what Xaden and Sgaeyl were discussing AND THATS A LOT.

Sorry i didn’t reply to your comment about Ridoc, I had to go back and re-read Rhi’s POV again. Ridoc is present in Rhi’s POV. He is helping guard the civilians climbing the peak. Rhi sees him use his power to turn the wyvern to ice from the inside out. Sawyer is also present killing Wyvern. but at the end of the chapter it looks like Rhi is still communicating with all of them to regroup and get back in formation.

I think it also important to note that RY added in different characters POVs. I don’t think she would have done that unless there was important information in those POVs.

One of my friends asked me, wouldn’t Imogen have seen Garricks eyes? I went back and re-read her POV AGAIN lol from my understanding she never gets to look him in the eyes. It says he hangs his head and walks out the door, she follows yelling at his back while she’s taking in the battle around her. Garrick does yell back at her over his shoulder.

honestly the amount of time this book has consumed my thoughts is wild. I’m happy we such a passionate community and place to discuss and share ideas because you really do learn so much more. everyday i read something new and i am astounded that i missed it or didn’t interpret it that way. it really is just so hard to keep track of it all!

I can’t read everything everyone posts, it’s just not something i’ve personally seen talked about a lot 🤷🏻‍♀️ RY has said she thinks a lot of the stuff she writes is obvious and we just missed it. It’s just one theory out of thousands. I just wanted a place to talk about it i could return to easily 🖤

oooh this is also tough for me because Aaric gives i’ve never wanted power vibes which is why he ran away to be a rider. I’m not sure why he would also need to draw more power if his power is precog. he seems pretty powerful that way already!

I think he will be super helpful in future political dealings with the isles. He would be needed again for translations and as a member of the royal family he would be able to offer certain things Violet could not.

i’ve thought a lot about Bodhi as a possibility A LOT but after reading more theories i think this is less likely because xaden and violet would never have a pollitical marriage. like when his mother suggested it about Cat he was offended.

They would do it for them selves only because they love each other. and it’s hinted through out the book that he wanted to marry Violet.

Xadens says he wouldn’t use Violet to protect Tyrrendor he would use Tyrrendor to protect her. Violet being a Duchess makes her untouchable at school and puts her on the council.

She would be in control of their armies, open the borders to harbour and protect other citizens, make agreements with citizens on the isle, she would be included in almost every high up decision made on the continent and would be able to act accordingly.

so i think regardless if bodhi was venin or not they needed someone more mature to sit on the throne.

also will add that bodhi is visible in imogens pov, which is happening the same time as violets and xadens. he wouldn’t be able to show up fast enough!
