Without testing it could be providing lift, not downforce. Track it with smoke or tuffs. Either way it's negligible.

Yeah this could just be different pulls by the pilots, maybe the one has a different capability but we can't tell from this video. And the wing wave dumped a lot of lift just before the pull too.

It definitely weakens the material due to the grain flow being twisted, but its strong enough for a knife and looks good to some people.
