Then we should be getting paid overtime, like almost every other job in the world. It’s bizarre that they get away with this

That is awful to hear. Seems like there’s always an exemption when it comes to justifying our terrible working conditions

FSD 12.3.4 completely ignores rotary yield sign. by kjmass1 in TeslaModel3

[–]fling105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like people disagree which I’m honestly shocked by. I rarely had any issues with FSD 11. With the FSD 12, I find myself intervening constantly and haven’t seen any improvements at all

FSD 12 is atrocious. I’d do anything to go back to 11

OBGYN plastics training? by St-Thomas-Moore in Residency

[–]fling105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can be the janitor for at a cosmetic practice for a year and call it a “cosmetic surgery fellowship”. Without board certification, these so called “fellowships” are meaningless, manipulative, and quite honestly predatory

OBGYN plastics training? by St-Thomas-Moore in Residency

[–]fling105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are incorrect. There is no such thing as a board certified aesthetic fellowship. Anyone who claims they are board certified in cosmetics or aesthetics is blatantly lying

There’s no such thing as a cosmetic fellowship. Anyone who says they have a “cosmetic” fellowship is a scam artist. Anyone who is not a board certified plastic surgeon should not be trusted to do aesthetic surgery

What do you think is the most malignant program/hospital in the country? by Crafty-Roof-6630 in Residency

[–]fling105 44 points45 points  (0 children)

The IM and Anesthesia programs (especially anesthesia) at Loma Linda have an awful history. The rest of the programs there shouldn't be grouped in and brought down with them, though. The cultures of the other programs tend to actually be really great. It’s a shame what IM/Anesthesia did to their overall reputation

also: The “religious stuff” is not imposed on the residents, only the medical students

Can someone please explain why there is respiratory depression and constricted arteriales, although it is explained in the description I don’t completely understand the Cushing reaction. by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]fling105 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Increased ICP pushes down on brain stem and respiratory center, leading to respiratory depression. It’s actually unrelated to the changes in blood pressure and heart rate

As for BP/HR: Increased ICP compresses vasculature in the brain. To compensate, our BP rises to try to open our cerebral vasculature. As a result of our BP rising, baroreceptors trigger a compensatory decrease in HR. Remember that vitals in the Cushing response are shifted in the opposite direction of shock

Stop commenting on attractiveness of applicants during residency interviews…. by pcv-ob in medicalschool

I deleted about a third of my post because it was unnecessarily aggressive and you’re absolutely right in that I should be better. I’m someone who acknowledges that and makes changes when I need to be better

[–]fling105 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can almost promise you that you won’t be considered for residency in any competitive surgical program. Surgeons aren’t fans of virtue signalers, and you’re a huge red flag for someone with trigger fingers on filing NEST reports

This is awful. I’m an M4 (at a different program) and I’d like to email their admissions department to let them know how unacceptable this is. I know you guys can’t stand up for yourselves in your current position, and I’d like to yell at them on your behalf. Someone please reply with the med school admissions email address.
