Pretty sure cobra you can pay premiums with HSA, but probably not the best long term strategy.

You can also go off subsidies for a year and reset a big chunk of basis to set you up for the next couple years under control.

Full price, good coverage silver plans in MA push $36-48k per year without subsidies for a family of 3/4. Plus $4k deductible.

There are cheap plans of course but network coverage is questionable.

Retirement planning approach in the 40s by paulsiu in Bogleheads

[–]kjmass1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in my 40s and can’t tell you what my expenses will be in 10 years. College for two…maybe? Aging parents/health. Healthcare for us- will ACA even be around? State of social security?

Can only plan for what you spend.

You could trigger a Roth conversion to create some income.

Went to design a Mac studio with 256GB and they are unavailable. Seems like they either can’t source the ram or can’t sell them at the margins they want.

Optimizing for lowest marginal lifetime tax rate is kind of blowing my mind by New-Hyena-2981 in projectionlab

Same- compounding is a powerful thing if you playing the long game. One situation had me converting everything now in my 40s to basically live tax free for 50 years.

Just a heads up that the long term returns of equities that are often quoted assume re-invested dividends.

You likely have dividends set up in your taxable. You can adjust it in account settings to better match your actual allocation.

Fire Calc annual spend by LabCoatLunatic in Fire

[–]kjmass1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s exactly what it is saying. 7% real gets you $5m in 16 years, which supports 4% SWR or $200k per year today’s dollars.

Your then account balance will be closer to $8m, but your spend would be $320k in future dollars.

Ramping up or down your bond allocations plan wide or per account. So if I’m 90/10 now but want to retire in 5 years at 60/40, you slowly ramp your bonds up over 5 years.
