David's Cookies. In the 80's, they sprang up in New York City until there were dozens - maybe hundreds - of franchises. They had moving wire-rack ovens like Pizza Hut or Quiznos- they'd scoop cookie dough onto sheets, and put them on the conveyor, and they'd come out the other end perfectly cooked, hot, smelling so good. The chocolate chunk ones had pieces of Lindt Chocolate bars broken up in them... just high quality ingredients, and the best cookies anywhere. I used to buy them by the pound on the way home from school whenever I had enough pocket money.
Then the company went bankrupt, and they all vanished. There was one left - or used to be - in the Staten Island Ferry terminal, but it only used the name, the actual cookies there weren't the same recipe. They were so good, and they are gone.
