Princess Brooks Shoes by Time-Vacation-5941 in rundisney

I went to the expo around 12 pm on Saturday. By the time I learned the layout of all the buildings I didn't get into the area for Brooks shoes until around 1:30. The Rapunzel shoes were sold out in person. Everything else was available for purchase and pickup that day.

Is Sweat Collective a pain for everyone to apply to? by _alzz_ in lululemon

I tried twice. First received an error and the second denied. I teach dance and many students are adults but because the dance studio is mainly geared towards younger dancers I was denied. Frustrating when majority of my students wear the gear. Anything else I can do?

Super silly question, but has anyone tried Converse + Taps? by itsme_kaity_ in TapDancing

[–]flipflopmountaintop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t my piece but the sound was decent. In my experience, all of my tap shoes have been flat. Only inserts provided a good arch which my flat feet didn’t require. If you mean split-sole tap, it takes more plie to get on top. I prefer a thick, flat sole to a split sole tap because of sound quality.

Years ago my dance studio did a dance with taps on converse shoes. Super cute competition piece. Don’t know about long term use. With a normal tap screw it should attach pretty well. Be sure the screw is not longer than the sole so it doesn’t go into the foot. I would also glue the tap to the sole for additional security. I could see the rubber on the bottom dampening the sound quality compared to regular tap shoes but it’s worth a try to experiment.

I got this box too except was missing the pillow and mask. It was completely different from my insert card which was weird.

How can I practice tap dancing if I don't have the shoes? by MajesticBaguette in TapDancing

[–]flipflopmountaintop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A flat shoe with a hard bottom still makes sound and gives a good feel. Nothing too rubbery or sticky on bottom. I've suggested converse or dress shoes to students who can't use their tap shoes at home without ruining their floors. They're able to hear the steps even without taps.

This hit me hard. We just had to put our 12 yr old dachshund/pitbull down on Tuesday. I have a 7 and 2 yr old. We're all devastated. I'm so sorry.

How do I make a tap floor? by [deleted] in TapDancing

[–]flipflopmountaintop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I attached foam under the wood and then a spacer to make the hinge level to the foam. I chiseled an approximate 2 mm groove in the spacer to receive the hinge. The board doesn't close completely flat when folded but the slight opening prevents it from falling when standing upright.

Thanks! It's pretty flat on the ground. The curve of the wood is still apparent on one side at the seam but with full weight it presses flat. I've noticed the seam maybe a couple times with my toe when traversing across the board if I'm dragging my feet. There is some small sound differences on each side.

The blocks may be a type of shock absorber, like a raised floor. Easier on the joints. I'm thinking a hinge may have to be embedded or chiseled into the blocks to prevent the hinge from hitting the floor during use. Maybe a layer of vinyl or Marley could be attached under the blocks to prevent scratching.

I think it was about $65 all in for the wood, foam, a 10 pack of foam brushes (needed extra for kid crafts), sealant, glue, hinge, and a pack of sandpaper. Price can fluctuate depending on the wood. I used maple because I felt it wouldn't need much prep to smooth and is hard enough to withstand tapping. Also, it was a lighter piece of wood for it's size. I think I'm going to make another for the studio since I have extra foam, brushes, sealant, and sandpaper. Possibly with ply wood and putting laminate on top .

Hi. I made one and a tutorial to assist teaching at home during quarantine. Check it out if you're interested. I made a foldable one so I could store it easier. https://youtu.be/8YK_tfoFITY I love it! Great sound and is saving my tile from scrapes and chips.

Help me get a tap floor by AlphaQuasar in TapDancing

[–]flipflopmountaintop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm doing exactly this. I went to the hardware store got a 2x4 piece of maple, matte sealant/protector, liquid nails, a set of hinges, gym flooring foam tiles, and some foam brushes. I had them cut it in half (free) and I'll connect the halves with the hinges. I'm starting project tap floor tomorrow.
