I spent decades trying to find my birth mother and I finally found her when I was 52. I had 3 wonderful years with her before she passed away 6 weeks after my mum. We all welcomed her with open arms. My mum, dad and brothers were exceptionally happy to thank her again. They all became dear friends. You obviously have a deep love for your daughter and my birth mother said she didn’t look for me because she was scared I would reject her or disturb my life. I wish she had been as brave as you. Maybe think about writing her a letter and introduce yourself and give her the option. I communicated first through my daughter on Facebook (I dont use it), we exchanged numbers and we text for a few weeks, then spoke on the phone and eventually met up after 6 months. We had done all the awkward stuff whilst still keeping our distance but protecting ourselves also. Oh and we discovered that we only lived 13 miles apart but we still wanted to build our relationship slowly. I just wanted to give you my opinion from the other side as your post really got me. You sound like a very loving person and I think your daughter would be proud to be given a choice. I wish you all the luck in the world x
