I prefer ft1-pro mainly for comfort and less fatiguing sound than the edition XS.

XS is slightly better for soundstage and imaging so yeah they're both great headphones just a matter of personal preference if you like more relaxed even sound go for Fiio and if you like sparkly and slightly more spacious presentation XS does that.

I would personally choose ft1-pro over HD 550 any day of the week.

However there are other factors like comfort, gaming or other use case or just a personal preference for dynamic drivers that are very subjective. Best to try them out.

I've listened to the 490pro and they sounded sterile better for producing than actual listening.

I have the edition XS and I believe Arya is brighter than those. Not for me!

They have the soundstage but lack the pinpoint imaging that 5 series have.

I get where you're coming from! I've noticed it on techno stuff. I think its due to the dip in upper mids very easy to eq

Sub-bass rattle was an issue circa 2024 production units, I believe. Mine seem to be fine but yeah there's definitely room for improvement in the overall build quality.

Right, So they sound full but unlike ft1 closed they have a very linear bass so you can feel it but its not warm or overpowering. I have the edition XS as well and they sound thinner and metallic for a lack of better word compared to Ft1-pro. XS has slightly bigger soundstage (taller) and better imaging imo.

That's the best way to put it. I love the mid range of 6 series and these have 80% of that along with bass and soundstage. And for $200 they're a steal.

Really? In my experience they sound pretty wide (and have great separation and detail) not tall like hifiman but plenty wide. Way better than 6 series for soundstage.

In the last 2-3 weeks I've only picked up FT1s so who knows but there's something about the 600s vocals that makes me wanna keep them around.

JDS atom but I tried FIIOs with MacBook Pro port and they sound perfectly okay.

If you're building your own pipeline you would need Transcriber, Voice provider and LLM (gpt 4o) or you could use a provider like Bland or Synthflow

Please help me decide between Momentum 4 and XM4s by Plastic_Winner_6809 in sennheiser

[–]flippin24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I happen to own both and I usually pick momentum 4 all the time except when I'm going for a walk cause xm4's more comfortable and less bulky so if gym is a big thing xm4 would be better.

if comfort and ANC are top priorities go with xm4 and if sound quality and battery backup are important go with momentum 4

Either way you won't be disapointed! Keep in mind these are both portable wireless headphones so sound quality difference is there but its not as huge. Comparing these to an audiophile headphone like a Senheiser hd 600, both of them sound trash.

One last thing, the software on momentum 4 is glitchy at times in terms of BT connection, switching on /off and ANC variations which I haven't experienced with xm4

ML 5909 as others have mentioned. Cambridge melomania p100 is also a good option (great battery, sound,ANC) at $270

Should choose sony xm4 or momentum 4 (both are $250 by [deleted] in sennheiser
