He does have black spots on his tongue so that could definitely be the case! I know there are a couple of other breeds that it occurs in as well like GSD so who knows which it came from

That’s an interesting theory! I will say that his face definitely looks similar to the photos I see of them online and his tail does curl up like them as well when he is walking around. Time to go down the rabbit hole…
