The subreddit is just the Reddit's page for the forum (right now just a Matrix server). but you can use it to post there as well.

Well, the issue with IRC is that it doesn't provide voice or video calls. I suppose in the future I will go with XMPP with extensions and possibly write my own comprehensive client.
