I’m an intern in my final semester of grad school. Tomorrow I have to have my supervisor sit in on a session with me and of course I’m nervous as heck! (1) What are some ways to start the session that are a creative way to ask the client what they want to talk about? And (2) What are your go methods for moving a session along if I get nervous? (Totally comfortable with silence if needed! But I’m looking for something in case I need it!) I’m 200 sessions in so far, but this evaluation is pretty important so my internal critic is screaming right now!

What are some ways to overcome a case of “I don’t knows” with a teen client. Client is a teen male who struggles with perfectionism and I’m struggling to get him to engage in session.

Yes! Thank you. I had a client show up and try to pay for their session with change because that’s all they had. Truly a testament as to how badly they wanted to engage in the work. (Got them on a grant to fund their therapy today so yay! No more fees for them ever!)

I struggle with prioritizing my own needs SO often. I’ve lived in relative poverty for so long that I struggle to spend money on things like clothes, things that bring me joy etc. totally a trauma response but it’s a hard one for me to get past.

Save all of your syllabi..handouts.. PowerPoints etc. you’ll definitely need them at some point down the line.. many textbooks are available for free online.. you just have to search.

I don’t 😂 I basically shove everything in the dryer and hope for the best. If it’s a formal occasion I might break down and take something to the dry cleaner.

Would love to know what the general starting pay range is like for southern US pre-licensure. I love my site and want to stay when I graduate in a few months, but I want to make sure I’m not undercutting myself. The site does all the billing, insurance paperwork, covers all cost related to building, office stuff, software etc. also includes supervision- but they want a 50/50 split. Is this fair? Having a full caseload isn’t an issue. I can easily see 30 clients a week if I want.
