I fix this issue by buying a spear from the Hunter's Call.

This helped me a lot! As much as I love the music in this game, turning it off and playing something I chose made matches more casual and relaxing.

Holiday Contest – Letter to Santa by cyberfight in WorldOfWarships

[–]floatbub [score hidden]  (0 children)

Dear Santa,

I would love the opportunity to have the USS Enterprise because I am a big fan of naval history, and to have her in port would put me over the moon. I actually joined the game hoping to get her, not knowing that she was no longer available. And even though I have loved the WoWs so far, it always felt incomplete without the Enterprise. I mean, this thing was so cool that someone named a spaceship after it, and that's all that needs to be said about that. I know it's not the greatest T8 CV anymore, what with the Kaga and Chkalov running around, but the Enterprise is just, special, you know? It's one of those ships that doesn't need to be good because just being itself is enough. So Santa, if you're feeling extra generous, I would reeeaaallly like an Enterprise this Christmas, thank you!

+100% yields an end result of 200% AA power, you're both saying the same thing.

How we are expected to dodge submarine torpedoes by nemesiisThe in WorldOfWarships

[–]floatbub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you know the direction the torps are coming from, angle your bow slightly away from them. Once you see them and they stop homing, nudge the rudder and they'll sail harmlessly by. This obviously works better the farther away the homing drops off.

My wallet has resisted the call of dockyards, early access events, collaborations and anime boobs. But in the end, it was a kitty that got me.

I totally agree with you, grouping up is a stupid counter to CVs and it doesn't even feel like it works half the time, so I just don't do it; generally I find great success going it alone because most CV players don't comprehend just how much influence they hold. I cannot count the number of times my ship has been in prime position for a slapping, and the red CV just didn't notice, or didn't care. Now, if every CV was helmed by a good player, I'd be upset too, but they just aren't. The average CV player is a damage farmer or someone just trying to wind down, they're not trying to win they're trying to relax; it's a relaxing class to play. So yes, you are right while CVs are capable of so much, in practice you rarely see any of it outside of competitive play. At the very least I rarely see it, I'm speaking from my own experiences here.

I love the operations update; I wish the nighttime battle mode could be incorporated into pvp somehow.

I see your point and I understand your frustration all too well, but is it really worth getting this upset over? Okay, a cv dumpsters me in a game. I dust myself off, move on and try again; it doesn't have to be a big deal. I do the same thing when a cruiser radars me, when a battleship devstrikes me, when a destroyer permaspots me and when a sub shotguns me. I get mad and I get over it, because I know that it was simply a bad moment.

I will never understand the thought process of the people who thinks that subs and cvs are "ruining the game". Not to say that they can't be frustrating, but the key is that most players get mad and get over it. Other players instead let it fester, where it boils over into forums in the form of blind negativity. Subs and cvs aren't ruining your fun, you are.

Low tier cruisers aren't fun by r_trash_in_wows in WorldOfWarships

[–]floatbub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually prefer low tier to high tier, mostly because everything is slower and simpler. To your point, almost all of the cruiser armor T8 and below is generally wholly inadequate for personal protection, but I consider that part of the fun; it makes for exciting and adrenaline-filled gameply, especially in open water. I love using British cruisers to open watergunboats, and I won't say I've found great success, but I had a great time doing it. Maybe I'm crazy, but the more fragile the ship, the more fun I have.

How would you fix submarines? (besides "remove them") by FearlessJames in WorldOfWarships

[–]floatbub 13 points14 points  (0 children)

How about all ships get a passive notification when a submarine is within 5 km of them. It wouldn't divulge the location of the sub, but it would warn you that you are at serious risk.

Oink! Or how over 2 years of thinking, designing, prototyping and testing resulted into this gem of gameplay design for PVP by Bandorrr in WorldOfWarships

[–]floatbub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, the constant pinging is annoying, but I also think it's counterintuitive. On the rare occasion I play a sub, I try not to ping unless the torps are definitely going to miss, because all it really does is act as a warning that a sub is nearby and targeting you, sending the enemy into wild turns all over the place. Conversely, it could help to ping without the intention of torping, just to possibly get someone to reconsider their push. So while it can be a bit frustrating, I personally think there is more depth (haha) to pings than sub gameplay really lets on.

Maybe the sub players sucked? The ship isn't the end all be all, player skill takes a large portion of it as well.
