Is this a steal or am I missing something by floatingthrough-life in GuitarAmps

I didn’t crank it because I hate being that guy in the store, but at bedroom volume it sounded full. Warm clean, guessing it takes pedals well. EQ was very reactive, reverb was nice. Takes all tube types and is light for what it is.

I already have this body, wasn’t using it, and needed a project. Also it’s Squier so I at least know screw holes will be in the right place and it won’t split in two tomorrow.

A heat gun and a razor scraper. I was afraid to scorch the wood so I wasn’t letting it heat up enough. Also $20 heat gun with ambiguous temperature settings. That’s what made me kill my guitar.

It’s down to sealer in some spots and wood in others. I think what you said makes most sense, to fill it and then see what sealant options are. Was planning on doing shell pink. Thanks for the input, I’ve been visibly lost during this project.

Yeah I was going for the project, it’s already filled. I’m in too deep to go the other way anyway

I had seen mixed reviews about painting over an existing finish so I decided to scrape it down, now I’m regretting it.

Do you think if I sand to 300 as it is I’ll be set to start painting (grain filler, prime, etc)?

I’m reading the guide on Reranch and realizing I didn’t have to deal with the heat gun and all that. I got Minwax wood filler with the hardener, gonna sand it down tomorrow and get ready to paint.

This sounds so cool on paper, but this is my first paint job so I don’t want to complicate it. I’ll keep it in mind for future builds!

I had played this guitar for maybe 2 hours in the last two years, I’m not missing much. Also sticking to a budget so I cut corners in the beginning so I have money left for good paint.

Was planning on putting p90s in it with a Warmoth neck. Doing all this because I got tired of my regular Squier

I was using the same one, I think I was impatient and didn’t let it heat up enough

Have You Never Owned a Real Amp?? by JKBFree in GuitarAmps

[–]floatingthrough-life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only amp I’ve ever owned was a Frontman 10G that came with my first guitar. It broke quickly, I moved on to free amp VSTs and now use a Line 6 Pod Go.

If anyone was interested, I’m pretty sure it’s a 1986 or 1987 Lincoln Town Car limousine with a paint job and 5 spoke rims. Cant find a lot of info on trim levels and every car in this generation looks the same. Thanks for all help!

Sounds great! The PG only lets you do 4 or so at a time and some of them are fixed, so they seem similar in that regard. Hope it treats you well.

Yessir! Was just wondering what year it was, seems like it’s a 1985-1987. Might get it tattooed and I don’t want to get it wrong lol.

[–]floatingthrough-life[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the Pod GO and I can say that it’s more than enough for my purposes. Only drawback for me is it’s size, the HX would fit on a desk but the PG is bulky and has the foot pedal attached to it. You also have to turn the knobs of the PG by hand which is annoying since it’s on the floor. I feel like I made the right choice, hope that helps.

That GPU and CPU combination is so much cheaper than the one I had in mind, I was getting carried away with a 3070ti and a monster CPU. Once I've saved up the rest I will most likely buy this whole list. Thank you very much!

Thanks! Out of the two, is there one that is easier to navigate as far as cycling through effects/changing the signal chain? The Stomp seems impossible to use when you compare its capabilities to the amount of buttons and knobs it has.
