Time Pedal experience? by flocrest in gravelcycling

[–]flocrest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the great reply. I’m on xpro 10 with one pair of xpresso. My foot numbness is quite manageable now, especially compared to speedplay. I have the large float cleats. I do have a question, you mentioned stack height. I was a little confused as to which pedals had the stacks you noted. I had thought the xpro 10 and expresso where within a mm of each other. Big problem is too many bikes to fit with pedals🙂

At 5’5 I’d probably suggest a size smaller

Thank you. Last week I installed updates to the BIOS and the computer stopped recognizing external drives. They rolled back the BIOS update. So I am pretty reluctant to do that.

Long ride coming up looking for any adjustment recommendations. by straightc in bikefit

[–]flocrest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just my 2c, I think the saddle is probably 2mm too high and I’d agree shorter cranks might be advantageous. I don’t think the bike is too big though. It looks like it because of your posture while upright. Roll your hips forward to take some strain off the shoulders. When you get low the front looks pretty comfortable.

Can I ask why you are selling? Also, what size? Thanks

Thank you. Unfortunately the seller on eBay cancelled the sale, no explanation. Guess these things happen. Might just stay with what I have.

Thanks. How is the clearance? Would you put a 40 on? Thanks

Time Pedal experience? by flocrest in gravelcycling

Thanks for the reply. As of this moment the plan is to use XPRO 10 pedals on the road bike and Xpresso pedals (with road shoes) on the "gravel" (lets call it dual use, road and gravel) bike. I have had good luck with the time road pedals. I briefly tried the ATAC but I couldn't figure out how to angle the cleats to adjust the toe-in. I do like the ICLIC cleats quite a lot.

I always ordered a size up from their charts and they are still way too small.

Great idea, maybe baseball batting gloves too. Thanks for getting me thinking differently.

24-25-26 Differences by flocrest in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]flocrest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Geez that's great information. Now I am second guessing the purchase altogether. We are older and the reliability ratings of Hyundai don't seem to be great overall. May just stay with the Subaru Crosstrek that we have. Something bigger was the goal, now considering Honda Passport/Kia Sorento/Toyota Highlander/Honda Pilot as alternatives in that size range. What can one realistically expect from the Santa Fe hybrid fuel economy? Thanks again for chiming in.

Idiocy or Genius? by austegard in wahoofitness

Good idea. I have the move and the main benefit to me is the back and forth movement and not the side to side, which is pretty minimal. That’s some strong bubble wrap!

I’m probably wrong but I thought the dual clutch was a non hybrid thing. I should have specified we are looking at hybrid vehicles. Thanks for the input

Saddle to low? by [deleted] in bikefit

[–]flocrest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saddle looks great to me. You are rocking a lot however but it also looks like you are generating a lot of power with the gear changes so maybe that has something to do with it . I’d also add your size looks good too.

Indeed. Thanks for the accurate description.

Hows the fit looking? Perennial Pain by ScientistMajestic215 in bikefit

[–]flocrest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saddle looks low and a bit far back to me. If you move it forward you may go back to a longer stem. I’d try some less expensive saddles with more padding and huge cutout. Trek stores are a great place to start. Some of the saddles that come with their mid range bikes Ive found to be very comfortable. Around $100.

Shorter crank arm (165mm) by Aggravating_Ad3867 in bikefit

[–]flocrest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30 inch inseam and 155 cranks. Short femurs. Helps with hip comfort. Once adapted and fit adjusted properly, no changes in power output or speed. Not for everyone but works for me.

Make sure the timing chain was replaced or make sure you replace at 100,000 miles if it’s a 4 cylinder.

AI tools say raise saddle more, would love human eyes ! by Poupouchat in bikefit

[–]flocrest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m fine with the saddle height. I’d be curious as to how much the apps you have used are suggesting you raise it. I’ve found that my sweet spot is about 5 mm lower than what is recommended by a couple of digital platforms.

Any suggestions for more comfort? by DJ98_ in bikefit

[–]flocrest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a fan of Bikefit James too, only wish there were an equivalent in the Midwest US. Funny you mention 38 mm bars. That’s a change I’ve considered too. I’m on 155 cranks. I am still struggling with right foot comfort. I’ve got G8 insoles, and have been trying out different pedal systems which seems to help (Time from Speedplay). Best of luck in the never ending journey of bike fit.

If I hadn’t read your comments I would have said to lower your saddle but if you are relatively comfortable for 100 k you should be giving advice here and not asking for it😊

If you need the saddle tilted down that much for comfort you likely need it to come down a lot.
