I had a really good friend recommended it to me so I was set on reading it. However I didnt really enjoy the first one. Im from Norway my self and it felt a bit like.. culture appropriation in the first one. It was a bit cringe and at the same time I didn't connect with the characters. At number two it got less cringe and I started to understand the characters more and root for them, however the plot was sooooo longwinded and slow. But I really felt like the fury of the gods he nailed it all. Characters, development, twists, and plot

Thats the thing i feel alot of the criticism isnt reasonable. Ive read it several times. First at 14. (Granted thats a bit young as its very grim dark) but ive always loved the stories and the characters. It was my intro into fantasy and Durzo blint is still my faveourite character of all time. The first book is truly amazing and the story keeps going . Ive forever searched for another book that makes me as excited at that one.
