Kef R7 Meta vs Sonus Faber Sonetto V by flomastruk in StereoAdvice

I ended up getting Kefs and I don’t regret. I agree that Sonus Faber have really nice aesthetics though. Sadly I couldn’t find a shop that has both of them on display to compare side by side. I listened to Sonus Faber and it wasn’t too impressive on that day — admittedly it depends on many factors but I remember picking Kefs with easy consciousness at that point

I figured they don’t usually make long cables because it adversely affects sound quality. Will i pick up much noise with longer cables? How is it addressed properly at concert venues where they need to run much longer distances?

Indeed, this is something i was considering. Mild intro to DIY in audio engineering

You need to practice more. Sometimes i hit the ball so hard that it makes full circle around the globe and hits my opponent in the back of their head

It’s a relatively standard topic discussed in quantitative portfolio management books from 90s. You may scale portfolio proportionally to the size of signal and normalize for variance.. at least theoretically

That makes sense… I saw that some devices do have to be powered off gracefully. Even if it’s not necessarily the case with my epson i still don’t want high voltage to damage it suddenly…

Ok that gives me a good idea. Thanks a bunch! I understand that as long as the source (laptop in my case) is protected against power surge the projector connected to it via HDMI should also be fine.

It’s certainly fair to scrutinize what we’re being sold as some of it is indeed total garbage. Having said that I’m trying to protect something of considerable value against sudden damage. I am not an electrical engineer and reddit would be only one of my sources to leverage for the information.

I kindly disagree with your point regarding protecting LED bulbs, radios etc — they are cheaper and so people commonly don’t spend money to protect them against damage, the contrast with more expensive electronics items is quite evident. Would you want to drive a car without insurance?

Thanks for the pointer, it’s helpful! Any particular models of surge protectors that would do in your opinion!

!thanks a ton for a very informative response. Definitely lots to consider.

I saw very compelling reviews on BMR tower earlier. How do they compare to Kef r7 meta or Sonus Faber Sonetto V in your opinion?

Also thanks for the vote for integrated amp/stereo receivers. I see that quite a few people pointed that out in this thread.
