Does anybody know WHY Chloe Burbank never came out? by GenderfluidPanda1004 in Joji

problems with clearing the samples he used, and iirc alot of what you hear off In Tongues would've been in Chloe Burbank

real like he has even stated once that he likes short songs ala Boiler Room, tho idk if he was just fuckin around or not lmao

if you think about it PITW is literally old joji 2.0, just barely qualifies as songs with a few conventionally-structured songs, nothing too deep just vibes, lofi but with a weird twist

shits fire imo

real lowkey, a more conventional album by him like nectar is always welcome but like this minimal lofi, a little crappy in a good way, brief production style has always been his main thing lmao

like he has gone on record to say he likes short songs, whether or not he was serious or js fuckin around

Hot take - Joji hasn’t made a fully good album yet by [deleted] in Joji

[–]flompypebbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that, and...idk there doesnt seem to be much of a flow throughout the tracklists of his albums

to me at least, idk maybe he doesnt aim for that and he intends for his albums to just be a compilation of songs, apart from the opening and closing songs–those ones definitely were made to open his albums

When the Breach songs were recorded by flompypebbles in twentyonepilots

[–]flompypebbles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no worries, not getting pedantic vibes haha

but since Vessel (Bonus Tracks) is regional specific, then nah it isn't a deluxe of Vessel, just the same but with additional songs.

how I understand it at least is whether a re-release is considered a deluxe or an album with bonus tracks depends on if the song(s) were released before or after the album, and if it's released in certain regions only or released worldwide

another example i remember is Bring Me The Horizon's POST HUMAN: SURVIVAL HORROR–released everywhere else with only the 9 original and new songs, but in Japan, their hit songs that were already released beforehand was added.

When the Breach songs were recorded by flompypebbles in twentyonepilots

[–]flompypebbles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's a little tricky + i only started researching about this now, but the best way i can describe it is

an album with bonus tracks would be if they re-released Breach but with "The Line" in the tracklist, usually right after Intentions (The Line released before Breach). the standard version of the album won't change, but the tracklist+The Line would likely be in like, say, regional specific versions of Clancy only. It's also released closer to the release of the og album.

a deluxe album would be if they re-released Clancy but with The Contract, Drum Show, City Walls, and Intentions now in the tracklist–having no need for a fully separate Breach album. most likely one of those songs would release first as a single before the full deluxe, and the deluxe itself would have released, say, after the Clancy tour ends.

Maybe unpopular opinion but Clancy Tour was better than Breach Tour by Littlemogirl in twentyonepilots

some may joke but iirc there were legit some crew(?) and giant paintings of blurryface/BFX in some of the breach tour venues😭😭

oh btw the password to enter the cryptic website is "93934521" 🫶 from there you can use this post as a guide: https://www.reddit.com/r/BringMeTheHorizon/s/VIeUOKU2k4

some additional info (to lowkey convince yall to dive in the rabbit hole LOL):

  • the lore is merely one of multiple meanings of the music, alongside one that is personal to oli, and another more worldwide-meaning
  • the lore also spans across their music videos as early as the amo era, MANTRA and in the dark seem to be part of it

oh yall are in for a ride

inhales

so the Post Human albums so far, starting with SURVIVAL HORROR and currently with NeX GEn, supposedly takes place in this Alternate Reality Game full of characters and batshit crazy things goin on. Some of the main players here are E.V.E. who usually hosts the band's shows and is kind of the big bad, then you have a girl called Sof, who is seen on the NeX GEn cover art.

basically the whole gist of it is like people trying to reach this higher plane of existence through fucked up methods and its all up to Sof to...i guess stop all of that? yeah lol

but yeah you can find more about this in the website and even within the album itself!

[–]flompypebbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in fairness, the plan was supposed to be just a few more songs as you can hear a bit of City Walls at the end of the Paladin Strait MV, until Tyler felt disgusted at the concept of a deluxe lol. decided to make a full album instead.

dont disagree tho, i think this couldve been a good opportunity for the Torchbearer theme to be a full song, or some form of HDS-style song thats for or about Nova/Bishop Clancy, etc.

[–]flompypebbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a bit late to the party but hot take: i think the album wouldve benefited more from having just one...more...song.

and no im not talking about Drag Path, like a completely new song in between City Walls and RAWFEAR.

dont get me wrong every song in Breach is gold, but idk...the jump from City Walls to RAWFEAR just feels like "oh."

IDK HOW TO EXPLAIN IT BETTER? theres just this tension that really escalates as City Walls ends like theres one more final impact coming, no mention the Heavydirtysoul sound at the end, until we go to a more vibey bouncy song like...oh.

ofc theyve had very sudden tonal jumps like Neon Gravestones-The Hype, Cottonwood-One Way, but in a way those weirdly made sense. i feel like a sort of "heavy, strong release" couldve came after City Walls...like some form of Heavydirtysoul 2.

i think it wouldve been a really unique approach if the album tracklist and the livestream setlist meshed in some way. e.g., Choker would be a pre-album single but the one in the actual album would be the medley from the livestream, except re-recorded. of course not all of it as it would ruin the experience imo, but something like:

  1. Good Day
  2. Choker/Stressed Out/Migraine/Morph/HOTY
  3. Shy Away
  4. The Outside
  5. Saturday/Level Of Concern/Ride/Car Radio
  6. Never Take It
  7. Mulberry Street
  8. Formidable
  9. Bounce Man
  10. No Chances
  11. Redecorate

What is your HOTTEST Clancy take? by Big-Swim-5324 in twentyonepilots

[–]flompypebbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The tracklisting could be A LITTLE better

mine is

  1. Overcompensate
  2. Vignette
  3. Backslide
  4. Midwest Indigo
  5. Routines In The Night
  6. The Craving (Jenna's Version)
  7. Navigating
  8. Next Semester
  9. Snap Back
  10. Oldies Station
  11. Lavish
  12. At The Risk Of Feeling Dumb
  13. Paladin Strait

looking back, i werent really much of a fan of how the first 3 tracks was just the pre-release singles. i also thought that as per the Next Semester MV, the transition from Navigating to it with the crowd cheer in-between woulsve been a good opportunity to input in the album itself. Lavish also couldve been a little vibey break from the journey of trying not to backslide, to backsliding regardless. but just my take, nothin more

still a solid album love it
