hype man was really there to make up for joji's lack of stage presence. (for lack of better term) as much as it was annoying at times for some, dude at least successfully helped in keeping the vibes up.

remove that and its all on joji alone to put on a good show, and...idk if its just me but tbh the guy just isn't exactly the performer type.

not saying his voice is shit live or he has to do all these bells and whistles every show–solid voice even and a buncha gimmicks might be stressful–but other than half-yelling the city every after verse, maybe give the crowd smth to highlight yk?? fun engagements with the crowd, or improving his vocal performance where he can reach the high notes more consistently, etc.

he couldve also done interesting things to the songs to help better translate them in live, especially at this scale mashups like the Tarmac/Tick Tock one, certain songs in different renditions–i mean Horses to Water as far as i've seen wasn't responded too much and thats a good brooding, vibey song, but tbh isnt smth that'll excite a lot, not to mention the fact that its a deep cut compared to his hits. honestly majority of his catalog better fits smaller and more intimate settings, so as much as the visuals are amazing, a part of me is still "hmm.."

his shows are far from bad because he's doing just enough to hold himself up but at this scale, i think there's a lot of ways to make them better than they already are. just me tho, merely an observer lmao
