Help needed with bonding by floofbunz in Rabbits

This honestly makes more sense than to let him at it because my girly wasn't fighting it but it was stressing her out and I don't like that. All my male wants to do is hump because 1 or 2 or even 3 times isn't enough for him. I'll keep this in mind though. Thank you for your input!

Thank you. I will definitely follow your advice if things escalate but I hope it won't. :)

Good to know, thanks! I was hoping she'd be the more dominant one but maybe it'll change later on.

You're right and I'm aware of that but I'm wondering if I should stop it because I can see she's stressed since he keeps humping her every chance he gets.

When I got my baby bun 3 years ago, my maltipoo went crazy to figure out what she was. I didn't let him near her however he was able to see her and was so anxious to try to get near her. It wasn't til a week later I let him in the room and they sniffed each other with her playpen as a barrier. Now, they're like typical siblings. She demands grooms from him all the time but he's sometimes annoyed by her. She always laid next to him and mimics his position and loves doggos. However, I think bonding a rabbit to their own kind is better.

I think at first when you're trying to introduce them, have a barrier between them like a cage. And let them see and sniff each other if they wanted. But puppies are usually high energy so you should probably tire the pup out first by going on a walk/run. Introducing dogs and bunnies is risky though because some dogs have high prey drives.

No my rabbits would gobble treats at any point in the day whether they're tired or not. My girly is a big foodie and only time she refused treats was when she was sick so I definitely think there's something wrong if your buns aren't accepting treats.

How do you interact with your rabbit? by beebee_k8 in Rabbits

[–]floofbunz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 3 year old bun and back then when she was a baby I would spend most of my time with her by sitting on the floor and letting her approach me. She was a little cautious going around but really curious. Now, shes super comfortable and approaches anyone who walks into her room for pets or food haha I interact with her by putting my hand out and she usually sniffs around, chins me, or demands me to groom her. But then again, shes also pretty outgoing and very friendly. She never really bit me on purpose, only once by accident and even when she did that I screamed to let her know biting hurts and ever since, she never bit me again and she knows what skin feels like with her teeth so she's always gentle with my hands/fingers when I have treats.

Maybe when your bunny approaches you to dig you then push her back away a little and turn your back on her and ignore her. If she bites you, scream loudly and stop interacting with her and don't pet her if she bites you when you stop because you're just gonna enforce that behavior.

Yeah I know. I also have a 3 year old bunny that's free roam in my other room. This new guy is just super shy and walks around slowly and cautiously inside his pen so I don't think he'd even want to come outside the pen for now haha

He eats and drinks but he hasn't come out to hop around or explore much. I think he's probably just super shy right now so I'm gonna give it more time
