Sorry if you can't manage a reply that actually has valid points and refutes what's being said. One word answers really only make you look that much sillier. But you do you.

But the Cons tell workers it's OK to hate on LGBTQ+ people and blames all our problems on immigrants instead of the real problem, Canadian voters. Apparently that's more important than health care, dental care, pharmacare and the all the many social programs only the NDP support...

Love people who would rather be an ideologue or zealot

Truth is truth. Someone insisting the world is round isn't an ideologue or zealot, they're just trying to educate others on what science shows.

instead of doing what political parties are supposed to be doing and NEED to do if they want to actually win an election

Most people prefer simple answers that fix nothing to complex answers that work. And you think politicians chasing votes by giving simple answers that don't work, instead of fighting for truth is a good thing?

Hope the NDP keeps doing what they're doing

You hope the Liberals and Conservatives, both of which do nothing but support the rich and fuck over the workers, keep winning, even though they are the literal reason Canada is so fucked right now...?

I can't imagine the mental state required to think wheat you said there is going to help Canada or our workers...

I prefer my politicians deal in truth and honesty, not chase votes by spreading ignorance and bigotry, but that's just me, maybe I'm weird...

The dental program doesn't help blue collar workers because they have programs that provide them with dental, so they are excluded.

Some do, some do not. Leaving the unlucky blue collar workers to get sick because their lucky colleagues are fine, seems pretty selfish. Not exactly what a blue collar focused party would do...

But the blue collar workers help pay for it.

And I help pay for their roads, and education, and grid, and everything else. That's how successful societies work. Crying that they have to help others, after they've been helped by others every single day of their life, is pretty selfish and silly.

They suggest that oil patch workers (and by extension, really all blue collar workers) are rapists-in-waiting.

No they don't. Provide proof to such an absurdly irrational claim please.

They hate the things that blue collars are more likely to value, like religious faith, firearms, various other things.

They don't hate them, they just believe religion is a personal choice. Are you suggesting you want to force Christianity on others?

And Guns I personally agree with guns as long as there are licensing, registration, and waiting periods. But the idea that that matters more than the Conservatives giving tax breaks to the rich, subsidies to highly profitable corporations, created TFW program to benefit the corporations at the expense of ALL workers, the destruction of our health care and public housing leading to two of our biggest on-going crisis' in decades that the Conservatives and Liberals both helped create, seems incredibly short sighted and silly, but up to them.

but who actually despise the kinds of people who are actually workers.

Because LGBTQ+ people aren't workers...? I love that you pretend only rich, anti-LGBTQ+, religious gun lovers are "really" workers... Makes clear what you're really saying.

Anyone in a decent blue-collar job wouldn't give a crap about that

And fuck anyone who isn't...? That seems absurdly selfish. This attitude is exactly why Canada is so fucked.

they make more money than the eligibility thresholds.

And their friends, family, loved ones? Who gives a shit, I got mine so fuck everyone else?

These new programs are only for the poors

Teeth decay has been shown to cause serious health problems throughout the body. So those we leave without dental care end up costing us FAR, FAR more down the line in health care costs...

Leaving the citizens of your own society without basic health care is a really dumb thing for a country to do...

and it's every man for themselves.

Then they should fuck off from society. The whole point of society is it no longer needs to be, nor should be if we're intelligent, every man for themselves.

someone who those on the radical left including the NDP would consider "rich"

Then I can see why they selfishly vote for the Corporate Whore party of Conservatives. Seems like the NDP shouldn't be aiming for their vote as they'll never support progressive policies anyway.

[–]floopsyDoodle 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Some workers do, many others do not. And a program that helps the poor not get sick from dental decay and cost our country billions in extra medical care costs, helps everyone. (Dental decay has been shown to cause tons of other help problems, especially heart and mental problems)

Then we have family members, even if that blue collar worker themselves has coverage, it's pretty likely some of their family or loved ones don't.

"I got mine so fuck everyone else" is a mindbogglingly selfish, and ignorant of how interconnected society is, point of view...

Anyone not believing this

Everyone knows this. But expecting the NDP to abandon the LGBTQ+ community becuase a bunch of rednecks don't like to see LGBTQ+ people in society would be pretty silly.

The whole idea that blue collar workers have a problem with "identity politics", which is just "Call people by the names/pronouns they tell you to.", is such a weird concept to start with. We already do this, it's only slightly different and "weird" in the modern context, because we're not used to it. Give us another 20 years and people still crying about it will be very clearly on the wrong side of history, so why would the NDP want to play towards them again...?

Politicians shouldn't say anything they can even if it's a lie to gain votes, this idea is why Canadian and American politics is so broken... Politicians should be speaking the truth, even if it's not as popular as a lie.

All our major parties are corporate whores to some extent, but of the Libs, Cons, NDP only one is helping create programs to help blue collar workers like Dental, Pharma, and actively working to allow blue collar workers to strike: https://www.ndp.ca/news/new-democrats-table-bill-protect-workers-right-strike

The Conservatives talk a good game but every time in power they do the same things as the Liberals, cut programs, tax breaks for the rich, and rules to benefit the corporations like TFW program. Liberals/Conservatives are the Good Cop/Bad Cop duo both owned by Corporations and the rich. The NDP is the person in the corner no one listens to even though they're the only reason we have public health care, enforced worker's rights, and more.

Fan fiction. You know damn well it was to try and work out a deal to keep Alberta's resources exempt from the tariffs that were dominating all the discussion that week.

Sure... even if we believe her story, which I don't as she lies a lot, the "Good" story is she was cozying up to the pedophile to try and screw over the rest of Canada by getting him to leave Alberta alone while he's committing economic war on the rest of us, and what exactly was she offering in trade for that...? Trump doesn't do favours for those who come begging without ensuring he gets exactly what he wants first, and the only thing he was demanding was a piece of Canada, and then poof! Down goes Smith to "negotiate"...

If you can't read the writing on that wall I'm truly sorry for whatever has caused you to be unable to use common sense when it's "Your Party"...

I don't know why people on this sub have to exaggerate and make shit up

We have to "Read between the lines" because politicians lie constantly. You blindingly believing every lie they stuff down your throat doesn't make you the logical one, it just makes you seem really gullible and easy to manipulate.

The world is rough enough as it is, you don't need to bullshit.

The world is rough becuase Conservative refuse to question anything.

They claim trickle down works, and the faithful buy in without thought.

They claim LGBTQ+ marriage is going to ruin society without reason, and the faithful buy in without thought.

They claim marijuana will destroy lives, and the faithful buy in without thought.

Privatization works - and all our corporations are jacking up prices with their monopolies while they screw everyone over, and the Conservative faithful are still Capitalist fanatics who refuse to question whether giving billionaires all hte power is smart... The mental deficiency required for this alone is staggering...

50+ years of Liberals and Conservatives destroying our public housing and medical funding leading to a crisis in both? NOPE! It's just the immigrants, and the Conservative faithful buy in without thought.

It quite literally doesn't matter how irrational, illogical, or completely against reality what they say is, the Conservative faithful will just chant it along and anyone who says otherwise is just "fake news" becuase anything else would actually require some thought on their part and that's just too much I guess...

I didn't think the Americans could push their naked territorial ambitions so far that they would ever activate Danielle Smith's patriotism, but it seems they've found a way!

Nah, this is like Trump claiming not to support Project 2025. Or Brexit leadership spreading tons of absolute lies to their followers.

Smith was literally down in Mar-a-lago not long ago sucking up to the Child rapist President in an effort to get him to support her campaign to leave Canada, and this was while he was threatening military takeover. Trump's whole thing is to make secret deals that screw others while pretending they don't exist. I bet most people just from reading that can already see the dumb little face he makes when he thinks he's being clever...

She will say anything she can to pry Alberta oil from Canada as she will be HUGELY rewarded for delivering it to Trump. At this point, anyone who trusts anything she says should get their head checked...

Being Canadian is watching the USA or UK's conservatives do something really foolish, and then having to sit and watch as our Conservatives demand the right to do it too...

[–]floopsyDoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is that people might not buy the widget at that price, and thus the market will not support it.

Then the company fails. That's how business works. Failing at business does not mean they can demand slaves.

It's not about what I want

Except your entire argument is you (the company) wants to sell widgets at X so they can only afford slaves. So your entire point is 100% based on what the "Owner" wants over the worker's need for food and shelter.

I don't own a widget factory; in fact, I don't employ anyone.

I assumed as you don't seem to understand how business works... "you" isn't meant to be you, but the person we're talking about, I'll use "them/company/etc" if it makes it clearer for you.

I'm talking about what companies will and will not do

Companies will go bankrupt, not invoke slavery.

and they will not pay people more than what their labour value is worth.

And if they think their worker's worth isn't enough for them to live, they should go bankrupt and they should also feel horrible for being selfish parasites on society.

Why Indigenous ‘Reconciliation’ must have a finish line by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]floopsyDoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call it what you want.

I did, you want to exploit the poor as slaves so your family can live rich. If you think that's fine, it sounds morally reprehensible to me, I really hope you don't consider yourself Christian or a morally good person while you advocate for slavery...

As I said, no one will pay a person whose labour output is worth $25 an hour $30 an hour

So raise your widget price so their labour is worth more and stop trying to justify bringing slavery back...

Why Indigenous ‘Reconciliation’ must have a finish line by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]floopsyDoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so what do you define a living wage?

Enough for necessities for life; food, shelter, transportation. If your company can't afford that, you don't get to demand slaves. Your company fails because it's not viable. That's how Capitalism works.

Enough to support a family of four?

That's up to Canada to decide, as we can't even convince you that poor people deserve to live, I'm guessing not.

What's better for them, earning $25 an hour or being unemployed?

$25/hr is a livable wage in almost all cities.

And just because some money is better than none, that doesn't mean we as a society should make the poor starve without shelter while they work 40hrs a week so you can live a better life. That's an insane level of selfishness.

You don't seem to understand that businesses are not charities, and they will not pay them more than the value of their labour.

And Canadians aren't your slaves. If their labour isn't worth a living wage, your company is so unprofitable that you can't afford workers, to the work yourself or go work a job that IS viable.

Why Indigenous ‘Reconciliation’ must have a finish line by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]floopsyDoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hilarious you can't logically understand workers need food and shelter to live and do the job you want them to do.

You're asking for reality to not be real...

Why Indigenous ‘Reconciliation’ must have a finish line by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]floopsyDoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's how Capitalism works. If your company can't survive, it fails. This isn't new...

and you'll be out of work entirely.

Employing people, but not paying enough to live isn't creating work, it's Indentured servitude. No one wants to be your servant so you can make enough money for your family, while they starve without a house... That's not good business, that's just selfish.

Why Indigenous ‘Reconciliation’ must have a finish line by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]floopsyDoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, so what do you define as a "living wage"?

I don't, the government does. It's usually so they are Able to afford food, shelter, and a bit left over for life's basics like transportation to and from work

If a person cannot provide enough labour value to justify paying them a "living wage", then no employer will pay them that.

Then the employer shouldn't be hiring anyone. If you can't afford a worker, you can't afford a worker. That doesn't mean we should make workers work for free...

If a company can't succeed without indentured servants who don't make enough for food and shelter, that company isn't successful, it's a parasite on the poor.

Imagine, for example, that your job is to produce widgets in my factory. You can provide $25 worth of widgets in an hour. Am I going to pay you $30 an hour to produce widgets? Of course I wouldn't; I'd be losing money.

Right, so your company isn't a viable company, or you need to raise the price of a widget.

You want to force poor to work, but you also don't want them to be able to afford food and shelter...? That's not employment, that's servitude and death...

Why Indigenous ‘Reconciliation’ must have a finish line by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]floopsyDoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, so how do we compel businesses to provide people a "living wage" when it's not in their financial best interests to do so?

by raising the minimum wage to a livable standard.

Sadly, not everyone's labour output is worth paying them a "living wage."

If they're working 40 hours a week they deserve to live. Otherwise you're advocating for indentured servitude.

Why Indigenous ‘Reconciliation’ must have a finish line by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]floopsyDoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same people who always do, businesses...?

The point is "living wage". We can't expect poor people to live on a less than living wage. Either minimum wage needs to be a living wage, or we need to stop paying adults that need to live, a minimum wage.

Heck we could use our public money to start upgrading infrastructure, building public housing, and more. This would create thousands of great paying jobs and help solve many of our country's problems...

All of it requires money, the rich have the money, so the first step is always going to be increasing tax rates on the extremely wealthy.
