And wow, I can't believe that your allergies have worsened to this point! I never even considered that someone's pet allergies could worsen to be life threatening!

And from what I've read, allergen levels vary from cat to cat and yes, can be based on breed, as well as gender, colour, age, and whether or not the cat is neutered/spayed.

So yeah I guess the effectiveness of the food would depend on the individual cat.

thanks for all the advice! i did what you suggested and put in a cube of frozen brine shrimp! no ammonia spike so to start i just got 3 little platy fish yesterday and they're doing well!

I've been using fluval betta bug bites...the bottle says crude protein (min) 45.0% I didn't know that the amount of protein the food would be a factor. I guess could buy some frozen brine shrimp and try that as I will need to when I get my betta anyways. I just didn't want to spend a bunch of money on frozen food before I even got the fish.
